VolCut combines the benefits of the modularity of the Wohlhaupter MVS connection with Allied Machine and Engineering's large diameter holemaking solution. This time-saving combination offers increased material removal and excellent chip control at greater depths for large diameter applications - even on underpowered machines. The VolCut insert holder is stocked for quick delivery with bore diameters ranging from 2.559" – 128.149" (65mm – 3255mm). Its unique designincorporates serrations designated to connect seamlessly with Wohlhaupter's Twin Cutter and AluLine boring systems.

Due to the small sizes of these boring heads, the digital display will no longer be present on the head itself, rather the adjustment value will be shown on a separate mobile device or tablet that has the BIG KAISER App installed. Once connected to the head, the App also can be used to set the target diameter and tolerance. This information will stay assigned to the specific head connected until it is changed by the operator. Along with the last measured cut information (entered by the operator each time an adjustment needs to be made), the App can show the adjustment required to get the head set to the target diameter. n

The EWA68 boring head has a travel range of .866" on diameter, and with the smallest insert holder, it covers the range of Ø2.677-3.543". This means that similar-sized bores on the same part could be produced with a single boring head. With the addition of two larger insert holders, the range can be extended up to Ø5.197".

Setting the tool to the correct center height is one of the important factors to achieve the right dimension tolerances and surface integrity of the component. The new setting device enables easy, systematic, and accurate settings of tool center height. Its serrated interface with a magnetic locator in the center makes attachment and detachment to the tool body easy and accurate. The setting device comes in two sizes: AVC-SET16-25 covers BoreMeister diameters 16, 20, and 25 mm and AVC-SET32-60 diameters 32, 40, 50, and 60 mm.

The DeHoff 3060 has a single spindle with a maximum boring capacity of 3 inches (76.2 mm) and a maximum boring depth of 60 inches (1524 mm). To meet the rigorous material removal requirements, the cutting tool is powered by a 40 horsepower spindle motor with a 4-speed gearbox. A totally custom workpiece loading and fixturing system was designed specifically for the customer's unique part. The machine features Beckhoff CNC controls with G-Code programming capability.n

Available in lengths of 6, 8, and 10 x Dc and boring bar diameters of 1.25, 1.50, and 2.00 in. (32, 40, and 50 mm) with additional sizes and lengths available on request. Capto C6, C8 connections along with HSK100T connections are also offered as standards. The new boring bars feature compact, robust QuadFit precision quick-change exchangeable heads which boost versatility and decrease downtime. n

Designed for the internal grooving of bores with diameters as small as 8.0 mm (.315″) up to 24.0 mm (.945″), while promising reliable chip evacuation. The shanks are made of either steel for economy or tungsten carbide for long reach areas where tool steadiness is vital. Virtually eliminate chip nests, reducing part scraps and machine downtimes, while improving machining efficiency.

Monaghan Tooling Group introduces their easily assembled Top Speed Ring, a reamer that allows up to 70% higher feed rates than traditional cutting rings. These modular Top Speed Rings require no setting, so they are ready to use right out of the box.

Kyocera Precision Tool Inc. offers the new PF chipbreaker for microboring applications. The PF chipbreaker's low cutting force design and anti-welding properties provide excellent chip control and surface finish in a variety of applications.

Tungaloy is introducing ReamMeister, an interchangeable head reamer system. ReamMeister is a high precision, interchangeable head reaming system capable of reaming holes in an H7 diameter tolerance range. The ReamMeister tools meet the requirements of high accuracy reaming because the head geometry's diameter and runout accuracy is strictly controlled when being finished by precise grinding and the taper-and-face contact connection guarantees high concentricity within very close limits.

Kennametal has developed a 3D-printed stator bore tool to meet growing customer demand for lighter weight tooling solutions used to machine components for hybrid and electric vehicles. E-mobility components are typically machined on small, low-horsepower CNC machining centers that require lighter weight tooling solutions. Kennametal's 3D printed stator bore tool weighs half that of the conventionally manufactured version, while still meeting accuracy, roundness and surface finish requirements for aluminum motor body boring.
