LANG Technovation General Manager Jon Dobosenski discussed several new products introduced at EMO Hannover 2023, including the company's new workholding rail system, a new mini vise with a two-stud pattern, and a new FS series of vises with serrated jaws.

Michael Herman, vice president sales for BIG DAISHOWA Inc., discussed a special promotion for the company's fine boring kit, which features the EWN2-152 fine boring head from BIG KAISER is said to enable manufacturing precise bores with guaranteed precision of .00005". The set comes with dedicated accessories such as a boring bar, screw-in insert holders, and 2 inserts to cover Ø.701"-2.126".

The recently launched tools, toolholders and chipbreakers move manufacturers toward better results easier, more quickly and with cost savings. The holders accept CCGT3xx, DCGT3xx and VCGT2xx indexable inserts and provide a high level of indexing accuracy even when turning parts with tight tolerance specifications. The short head dimension enables short clamping and high stability. The shank dimensions are 12 mm × 12 mm and 16 mm × 16 mm.

Pneumatic Shaft-Locking Clamps are designed for quick change applications. In the pneumatic version, when connected to air, the clamp allows clamping/unclamping in one operation. They are perfect for secure clamping of sliding shafts and for use on machines where many clamping or unclamping cycles are run, or for multi-clamping applications. With air supply, remote operation is also possible at places out of reach, or hidden places like the backside of machines, and for maintenance or machine appearance.

The #9629109 Heavy-Duty C-Clamp with a copper spindle from Palmgren has a throat depth of 3-7/8 inches, a spindle diameter of 15/16 inches, clamp pressure of 6900 lbs. and weighs 8.7 lbs.

The DCN drills feature cylindrical shanks, which enable clamping of the drill in hydraulic toolholders (most recommended) or in spring collets. All drill bodies feature helical coolant holes. Prior to using the 12xD drill, it is recommended to drill a pre-hole by using a DCN 1.5xD drill or a centering drill.

Unique to Nikken rotary tables is the innovative and patented carbide worm system comprised of a carbide worm screw, ion nitrided worm wheel (HV930), and hardened steel bearing surface (HRC58-60). The V grade solid carbide worm screw helps to ensure high rigidity and virtually eliminates wear. Compared with traditional worm system combinations (consisting of phosphorus bronze and aluminum bronze), wear is reduced by up to 8 times, and overall accuracy is substantially increased. Additionally, the worm wheel has specially hardened, ion-nitrided treated teeth that eliminate sliding friction.

The TechniDrill 2.00-30-48 has a gundrilling diameter capacity of 2.0 inches (50.8 mm) and a maximum gundrilling depth of 48 inches (1219 mm). It features a 30 horsepower AC spindle motor and two-speed gearbox to provide versatile gundrilling performance. The workpiece is counter-rotated during gundrilling via pneumatically operated 3-jaw chucks, which increases the accuracy of the drilled hole.

TG GripSerts workholding inserts offer many advantages over traditional clamping systems. Their special triangular shape with a 5° tapering and teeth geometry combine to provide exceptional clamping stability with no need for pre-machining or dovetailing workpieces. They are designed to absorb and dampen vibrations, providing secure and stable holding at lower clamping forces which prevents deformation of the workpiece.

TriLock vises with CARVESMART jaws are on sale now with preinstalled hard jaws and a set of 6" extruded machinable aluminum jaws. Additional jaw extrusions are available with 5 different profile options in precut 4-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch widths. Jaw extrusions are compatible with the TriLock vise's dovetail movable jaws and with other CARVESMART master jaw kits currently in the marketplace (at right). 31" and 94" extrusions are also available for customers.
