The tight turning radius option on FlexMove Helix Conveyors allows for compact turns with a diameter of spiral measuring 1,000 mm (39.4") at centerline. The advantage this new tight turning radius option brings to customers and their facilities is even greater flexibility in layout for applications such as accumulation, buffering, cooling product and more. The small footprint also solves tight production line space problems.

ISO-EcoTurn's GNMG and FNMG inserts each features a reduced nose angle of 70 degrees and 45 degrees, compared with traditional CNMG and DNMG inserts. The increased clearance on the cutting edge allows better chip flow and reduced chip re-cutting issues when face turning the wall. Reduced nose angle also contributes to lower cutting force, minimizing unpredictable tool failure and chatter during machining.

Resulting in simplified programming and increased process reliability, hyperMILL® VIRTUAL Machining NC code-based machine simulation has also been enhanced. Within the VIRTUAL Machining Optimizer module which links individual part programs with smooth and safe connections, the cutter is able to remain close to the workpiece, violations of the axis limitations are now detected and movement sequences are optimized accordingly. There is also a new option in VIRTUAL Machining to apply a special approach and retract strategy to machines where the cutting tool can be retracted into a tunnel.

In the initial variant, which features a total of nine Ethernet ports, the C6027 is ideally suited as an IoT or security gateway for connecting different machine and system modules. In addition to this edge computing functionality, the C6027 also provides machine builders and end users with a powerful and extremely compact controller, measuring 82 x 127 x 69 mm. The KONTEC KSC mini is the vise of choice for flexible use in efficient blank and finish part machining. Conversion on a larger clamping range is even possible without requiring additional accessories. Different jaw widths of 45 and 70 mm can be used on the same basic vise, allowing optimal adjustment to different clamping tasks.

A member of the Walk-A-Sured® Water Clear Epoxy System, this eco-friendly, two-component epoxy system meets OSHA and ADA standards, and ASTM slip-resistance requirements. It contains 100% solids, with no solvents or VOCs, ensuring compatibility with previously installed coatings. Water, solvent and chemical resistant Walk-A-Sured® Water Clear HEAVYDUTY 20 contains polymer grit which gives the coating long-lasting added traction. CoroPlus® Connected is used alongside the existing Silent Tools™ Plus, a digitally connected damped boring bar from Sandvik Coromant. Having been awarded first place in the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) Production Innovation contest in 2018, Silent Tools™ Plus helps customers by providing visibility at the cutting zone in internal turning applications with long overhang.

The P6006 insert can perform up to 10 x Dc without the need for a pilot drill. It features a protective chamfer on the insert with HIPIMS-PVD coating, and the wear resistant WPP25 grade which leads to maximum tool life in stable conditions. Further, the insert has a 100° prism for the contact point in the body, and a 140° point angle with new geometry and thinner web. Optimum wear detection is provided by its light-colored yellow coating.

The new Optoquick is well-suited for measuring transmission shafts where spline and gear features, such as OBR, ODB, pitch run-out, etc., need to be measured together with traditional measurement of the solid bearing portions. It combines a touch measuring sensor with non-contact optical scanning to provide rapid and accurate measurements while the part is rotating. Design to operate on the shop floor next to the machine, it helps speed up the work-in-progress operations and eliminates time wasted in moving parts across the shop floor.

With 3D printing, there is about a 30% reduction in tool weight, yet it has the equivalent torsional stiffness of a steel ground body tool. Lightweighting can play a big role in large, heavy tools that take a toll on the machine spindle, helping to reduce preventative maintenance. These improvements can be significant when producing aerospace and automotive components, including electric vehicle parts, where existing spindle interfaces are not always ideal for some of the size/weight of tools.
