Radan 2018 R1 is a major step forward with technology geared to help sheet-metal manufacturers implement Industry 4.0 smart factories, and is the first of two 2018 releases in step with plans to begin issuing two new versions per year.

Allied Machine & Engineering adds the AccuThread T3 to their existing thread mill line. The new AccuThread T3 is built for machining hardened or hard-to-machine materials, such as stainless steel, tool steel and high-temperature alloys.

Simonds Saw has announced hat its European partner, WESPA, has introduced the ability to produce instant "blade-to-machine" data transfer of machine-specific cutting parameters for its Individual Performance Cutting (IPC) custom bandsaw blades program. This instant data transfer technology directly supports the Industry 4.0 concept.

​​​In conventional lathe-type machine tools, the capability of feed motion in the XZ plane is an inherent limitation. In a parting operation, this inevitably directs the resultant vector of cutting forces sharply across the cross-section of the tool, resulting in high loads and susceptibility to deformation. The classical parting blade design compensates for this with a large height relative to the width. Sandvik Coromant engineers now have a remedy that utilizes the modern machines' capability to feed the tool in the Y direction.

The CrazyMill Cool products have been developed by the Swiss tool manufacturer Mikron Tool for milling in small dimensions with high performance and quality. Now a new "family member" has been added. It is a four-teeth finishing milling cutter with shank integrated cooling, available in the diameter range of 1 to 8 mm und for milling depths of up to 5 diameters deep.
