Kentucky video outlines training initiative
The Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KY FAME) is a partnership of regional manufacturers and local educational institutions working to implement dualtrack, apprenticeship-style training with the goal of creating a pipeline of highly skilled workers, according to the organization's website. Non-profit engineering research group adds electron beam system to toolbox
EWI, a non-profit organization dedicated to innovating and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies for industry, soon will add an Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (EBAM) system to its R&D toolbox. Chicago-based Sciaky Inc. announced the sale of its EBAM system in a news release issued July 20.

Haas Tip of the Day tackles buildup of stringy chips
Haas Automation's "Tip of the Day" video series tackles the buildup of stringy chips that wrap around tools. "If you've ever experienced a rat's nest of stringy chips wrapped around your tools, this video is for you," according to the video description on the Haas Automation YouTube channel. A Haas representative offers "a simple way to throw those chips off the tool before they have a chance to build up." In addition, the video introduces a new feature in the Haas NextGen control that is said to eliminate the problem of chip buildup altogether.
