Bonded wheels cover cutting and grinding.

Klingspor Abrasives offers cut-off wheels and grinding discs for fabrication, maintenance and industrial applications. The A 960 TZ SPECIAL aluminum-oxide wheel is intended for stainless and carbon-steel sheet cutting. The A 624 R SUPRA grinding disc covers mild, structural, tool and sheet steels. The wider bonded-abrasive range includes options for angle grinders, stationary machines and small cut-off tools, with material, mounting and speed specifications provided for each product.

High-feed end mills target tough alloys.

KYOCERA SGS Precision Tools’ Hi-Per Feed MS end mills pair shallow depths of cut with high feed rates for stainless steels and high-temperature alloys. A dual axial-radius cutting edge creates axial chip thinning and directs cutting forces into the spindle. Ti-NAMITE-A PVD coating and optimized end gashing support wear resistance and chip evacuation. Metric and inch sizes include 2×D, 4×D and 6×D reach options; central coolant holes are available on selected sizes.
Carbide end mills machine difficult materials.

Tungaloy NTK’s SolidMeisterPro carbide end mills are designed for nickel-, iron- and cobalt-based alloys, as well as titanium alloys. The series uses a TiAlCrN PVD coating that the company says provides thermal stability and improved tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. Five-, six- and seven-flute designs are available in cutting diameters from 0.250″ to 0.750″, providing a range of configurations for difficult-to-machine materials.

Quoting software shows the machining strategy.

AMFG’s Machining Strategy feature breaks estimates down by part feature and shows the tools and setups used to calculate CNC milling and turning work. Estimators can include or exclude features and account for operations such as threading. An accompanying Sentinel AI update extracts secondary-treatment requirements from 2D drawings. A split-screen view lets users compare PDF drawings with 3D CAD models, including highlighted tolerances, specifications and finishes.

Wider shaft collars add axial holding power.

Stafford Manufacturing’s Double Wide Collars are twice the width of standard shaft collars while retaining the same outside diameter. The company says the design doubles axial holding power for assemblies with limited radial clearance. Standard one- and two-piece versions are machined from steel; aluminum and stainless steel are available as specials. Applications include bearing blocks, motors, linear actuators, conveyors and other equipment with restricted space around the shaft.

Five-axis millturn combines roughing and finishing.

Mitsui Seiki’s HU63A-5XT five-axis horizontal machining center combines milling and turning for processing aerospace components from roughing through finishing in one setup. The machine provides 900 mm of travel in each linear axis and spindle torque up to 1,081 Nm. It also supports drilling, boring, tapping and reaming. Simultaneous five-axis capability and a FANUC controller support complex work in materials such as titanium.
Related coverage: Machining center processes parts from roughing to finishing in a single setup.
