Seco Tools has introduced its R217/220.28 cutters with new body designs that incorporate double-sided round inserts to deliver cost-effective performance, as well as boost productivity. Double-negative-positioning pocket seats of the R217/R220.28 cutters deliver enhanced cutting capability and significant gains in productivity, according to the company.

Norton |Saint-Gobain Abrasives offers a new line of Norton carbide burs for surface removal, for those more demanding production runs with less changeovers. The Norton double-cut carbide burs quickly and comfortably remove surface stock, weld splatter, burrs, and are for chamfering applications, along with medium to light cleaning.

Sumitomo Electric Carbide, Inc.'s new AC1030U high-precision, small-parts machining grade combines "Absotech Bronze" PVD coating and a special substrate for superior wear- and chipping-resistance. In addition, the high-quality cutting edge of the AC1030U ensures excellent resistance against adhesion and microchipping for improved surface finishes, according to the company.

Customers have been asking for a new carbide grade to machine titanium 6Al4V at higher cutting speeds compared to increasing feed rates or increasing depth of cuts in that result in increased cutting forces imposed on the workpiece, fixtures and machine spindles. The KCSM40 grade has an advance cobalt binder that provides thermal fatigue resistance without sacrificing the toughness customers have experienced with KC725M or X500.

New from Sumitomo Electric Carbide Inc., AC4010K and AC4015K series turning grades for cast iron feature recently developed technologies that result in a long and stable tool life. Consisting of a smooth cutting edge treatment, the AC4000K series' use of high adhesion technology drastically improves peeling resistance, according to the company.

Walter says its new FM5 finishing and RM5 roughing indexable insert geometries deliver optimal cooling, longer tool life, and increased productivity in high-temperature alloy and stainless-steel machining. The new inserts owe their effectiveness, in part, to their "jet guiding geometry," or targeted cooling.

Arno Werkzeuge USA has expanded its Swiss-style program of cutting tools, holders, inserts and through-coolant systems for Swiss CNC auto lathes. Applications for Swiss auto lathes are known for their unique machining requirements for extremely long, thin, small parts with great precision and accuracy and, therefore, require very specific tooling.

While CO-type chipbreakers only redirect the chips, LACH DIAMOND's new »IC-plus world`s best« chipbreaker will already guide chips with a cutting depth (ap) of 0.01 mm. The cutting depth can be increased up to the maximum length of the cutting edge, e.g. up to 5.0 mm maximum for an ISO cutting insert VCMT.

Tungaloy Corp. is continuously expanding its DoFeed series. The latest addition includes inserts in grade AH8015.

Seco Tools has expanded its family of PCBN insert grades to cover the entire spectrum of hard turning applications. Using a new bimodal substrate and nanolaminate coating process, these new inserts extend tool life and increase productivity in a broader range of applications.

Tungaloy Corp. is expanding its DoTriple-Mill series to include pressed-to-size inserts in Class M dimensional tolerance, to further strengthen its position in the facemilling market. DoTriple-Mill is Tungaloy's latest facemill series, in which any set of square, octagonal or round inserts can be fit on a single cutter body.

Walter has expanded the capabilities of its popular Walter BLAXX M3024 heptagon milling cutter with new wiper inserts. The inserts, which have two right-hand and two left-hand cutting edges, were specifically developed for the Walter BLAXX M3024, and allow it to be used for finishing operations.
