Tungaloy Corp. added threading inserts with sharp cutting edges to its TetraMini-Cut insert series, which allows undercutting and finishing of a flange wall. Complemented by the new PVD grade, SH725, TetraMini-Cut's new threading insert features sharp cutting edges, making it suitable for cutting fine pitch threads at a high cutting speed.

Tungaloy Corp. has expanded the TungTurn-Jet line, the turning tool system with high-pressure coolant capability. Until now, coolant was simply applied by flooding the cutting area, which can cause chips generated during machining to interfere with the coolant flow, preventing it from reaching the exact spot where needed. Tungaloy's TungTurn-Jet's high-pressure, double-jet coolant system delivers jets of coolant to the optimal position close to the cutting edge and increases productivity by forming short chips in machining difficult-to-cut materials like heat-resistant superalloys.

Dormer Pramet launches new Pramet chipbreakers and grades. The NF1 and NF2 positive chipbreakers support turning applications in stainless steel while the FF2, FM2 and RM3 chipbreakers support steel and cast iron.

MAPAL offers a broad portfolio of ISO tools for milling operations. A new series of cutting materials has been developed especially for the milling of the whole bandwidth of cast iron grades – GJL, GJV and GJS.

Cast iron drilling has taken a significant step forward with an expanded insert range for new diameters in the high-speed Color Select P6005-WKK45C grade for Xtra·tec B401x point drills. These new inserts are available in diameters up to 1.50 in. (37.99 mm). With this expansion, the grade specially developed by Walter for machining cast iron can now be used to drill all holes from 0.47 to 1.50 in. (12 to 37.99 mm) in diameter at depths up to 7×Dc and holes from 0.71 to 1.02 in. (18 to 25.80 mm) in diameter at hole depths up to 10×Dc.

Kyocera's new CA3-series CVD-coated carbide inserts are for turning cast iron. The CA3-series grades with new K-series chipbreakers have become powerful contenders for gray and nodular cast iron machining applications, according to the company.

WS40PM's cobalt-rich substrate provides robust fatigue resistance and edge integrity, while the multiphase AlTiN-TiN PVD coating reduces tool wear, making it suitable for a range of high-temp steel alloys, austenitic and PH stainless steels, nickel-based superalloys such as Hastelloy and Nitronic, and titanium.

Kennametal is expanding its Mill 4 family with a new cutting tool, the Mill 4-11. Designed for smaller machining centers, the Mill 4-11 accommodates 40-taper CAT and BT, HSK 50 and similarly-sized spindles. Due to its free-cutting capabilities, it is ideal for successful metal removal in less-than-rigid setups and on light-duty machine tools, multitaskers and live-tool lathes.

Sandvik Hyperion is introducing diameter tolerances in high-performance endmill blanks described as RUGI. New tolerances exceed the industry standard with an advanced round tool blanks specification.

Sandvik Hyperion offers Compax veined PCD. This product offers diamond sintered within slotted veins oriented along a 30 degree helix angle. Its nibs are designed specifically for use in machining of CFRP and CFRP-metal stacks.

Walter says it has unveiled a technology that promises to dramatically improve machining effectiveness. Called Tiger·tec Gold, it is the latest iteration of Walter's successful line of Tiger·tec and Tiger·tec Silver coatings.

Walter has launched a major extension of its turning geometry program with new products that bring Walter precision and reliability to a range of new applications. Extensions include the FM4 positive inserts.
