Milling Cutters

The FaceMill-Diamond features an exceptionally high number of permanently brazed cutting edges for its diameter. The cutting edges are designed for a cutting depth of up to 10 mm. Furthermore, the robust tool body absorbs the vibrations generated during machining and prevents damage to the component surface.

Walter has launched the new Xtra·tec XT M5008, an indexable high-feed milling cutter in the diameter range of 5/8–2½ in. (16–66 mm) that permits high feed per tooth at low axial depths of cut. Application areas range from pocketing, grooving and surface machining.

MAPAL is expanding its portfolio in the area of high-performance milling cutters in the OptiMill family for aluminium and steel machining. The full potential of new, powerful machines can be used with the new OptiMill-SPM milling cutters "Rough" and "Finish." They exploit their strengths especially during the machining of structural parts made of aluminium.

Tungaloy has expanded its Tung-AluMill line of indexable shoulder milling cutters to include an insert with a 2.5 mm (0.1") nose radii.

Walter has introduced the MC232 Perform line of solid-carbide milling cutters. These milling cutters, the latest addition to Walter's cost-effective Perform product range, feature a corner radius and reduced neck. Solid-carbide milling cutters with corner radii allow improved approaches to individual component geometries.

Tungaloy expands its TungThinSlit line of indexable slot milling cutters to include inserts that feature F (sharp) cutting edge preparation. The TungThinSlit slot milling cutter consists of indexable inserts with a unique structure.

The turbocharger has been state-of-the-art in diesel vehicles for some time. And almost all automotive manufacturers offer a turbocharged petrol engine. Why? The turbocharger makes comparable performance with a smaller engine capacity possible and that contributes to the advance in downsizing. Turbochargers also help to achieve lower fuel consumption and are therefore fundamental in meeting strict emission limits.

The Dormer Pramet milling assortment for die and mold has grown with several introductions, including the double-sided Pramet SNGX11 insert for high-feed milling with up to 0.07" DOC. A strong main cutting edge ensures a high level of durability and process security, especially when machining corners inside a pocket.

A drill, a milling cutter, an ultimate machining strategy with perfectly tuned parameters; this is needed, when machining medical screws made from titanium or stainless steels. Mikron Tool developed a turnkey solution, which simultaneously does the machining of hex lobular bone screws (better known as Torx) 50% faster, guaranteeing also a high degree of precision of the profile and achieving nearly burr-free results.

Walter has introduced the M4130, a shoulder milling cutter that reduces costs through its ability to use Walter's universal M4000 system inserts in a variety of different applications. It's soft cutting action makes the M4130 shoulder milling cutter ideal for roughing operations involving steel, cast iron, stainless steels and materials with difficult cutting properties.

Tungaloy is adding new insert radius sizes to its TungUniversalSlot and TecTangentialSlot slot milling cutter series.

Diamond-coated carbide tools are perfect for the cost-effective machining of abrasive materials such as graphite and composites. With its extensive range of HSC milling cutters, tool manufacturer Inovatools offers its HQ line for a diverse range of applications.
