Mil-Tec Inc. says its Freedom Cutter low-profile, indexable milling system offers the value and performance of the standard Freedom Cutter but has less mass and half the weight. It is ideal for single-pass finishing on 40-taper CNC machines and small milling machines. The low-profile cutter accepts all standard Freedom Cutter inserts.

G.W. Schultz Tool Inc.'s HGW series tools are available with four, five or seven flutes and are for machining high-temperature alloys, tool steel and most stainless steel alloys. Designed for high-efficiency machining, the nACo-coated tools are suitable for full slotting, climb milling and dry cutting with a high feed. According to the company, customers increased tool life 10 to 30 percent while spending 5 to 30 percent less money.

Mikron Corp. Monroe provides cutting tools from 0.004" (0.1mm) to 0.25" (6.0mm) in diameter for machining stainless steel, titanium, chrome-cobalt and high-temperature alloys. These include the CrazyDrill Twicenter with through-coolant ducts for centering, the CrazyMill Cool through-coolant milling cutter, the CrazyMill Chamfer deburring tools and the CrazyDrill Inox drill, which is available with or without through-coolant. The tools impart fine surface finishes, making secondary operations unnecessary, according to the company.

GenSwiss, Westfield, Mass., recently partnered with Louis Belet SA to become the exclusive North American representative for Louis Belet precision carbide cutting tools and PCD-tipped milling tools, according to a Feb. 17 news release from Genevieve Swiss Industries Inc.

With CoroMill 425, Sandvik Coromant offers an eight-edge finishing tool designed for face milling that greatly improves metal removal rate and tool life in the ISO K application area. Due to its innovative setting system, it is particularly user-friendly.

Walter has unveiled the Walter BLAXX M3024 heptagon milling cutter, the latest entry in its line of high-productivity milling tools. The M3024, in diameters from 1.5" to 6.0" (40mm to 160mm) boasts the line's trademark wear-protected black tool body, plus indexable inserts with 14 cutting edges, which reduces tooling costs.

Seco Tools LLC, Troy, Mich., introduced two new insert sizes to its family of 335.25 disc milling cutters, a line that is said to provide manufacturers with high flexibility and productivity. With the additions of XNHQ inserts in 9mm and 12mm sizes, the cutter now offers a range of cutting widths from 0.531" to 1.26" (13mm to 32mm) for an even greater variety of applications.

Walter Tools, Waukesha, Wis., recently introduced its new Advance product line, which the company claims increases tool life up to 50 percent. The MC251 Advance solid carbide milling cutters from Walter's Prototyp brand is said to be the ideal geometry for machining stainless materials from material group ISO M and for secondary applications in ISO S materials, according to the company.
