Expertise, new technology shared at Makino's Die/Mold Technology Expo

The first day of Makino Corp.’s two-day 2017 Die/Mold Technology Expo included technology seminars, economic prognosticators, and demonstrations on more than 23 state-of-the-art machines at the company’s U.S. headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich. The company also unveiled a new vertical machining center for true 5-axis continuous processing.

TufBrush 4-Inch Stringer Bead

Osborn introduced its new TufBrush 4-inch stringer bead with up to three times longer life for weld cleanup applications, including root and hot pass, surface preparation, pipe joining and other applications. With an improved, patent-pending design structure, Osborn’s TufBrush stringer bead is made from carbon steel material and provides twice the life and 15 percent better material removal than its closest competitor, according to the company.

Expanded Resin Fiber Disc Offering

Weiler Abrasives Group announced the expansion of its resin fiber discs (RFDs) offering to include five new products for varying performance requirements: Tiger Ceramic, Zirc and Aluminum, and Wolverine Zirc and Aluminum Oxide. These discs are designed to provide an aggressive cut rate and a smooth finish on tool steel, aluminum and any material in between. The products are ideal for heavy stock removal, edge chamfering, weld blending, grinding, and surface preparation and finishing.
