Industrial Bench Grinders

Solid, dependable and engineered to meet increasing machine shop demands, characterize the new line of JET 8, 10 and 12 in. industrial bench grinders. These powerful, hard-working benchtop machines with 1 hp, 1-1/2 hp and 2 hp heavy duty capacitor motors, are smooth operators, anchored with cast iron bases for rigidity and minimial vibration.

EWAG Laser Line Precision Grinder

Deemed the most compact laser production center in diamond tool manufacturing, the new EWAG LASER LINE PRECISION serves as an alternative to conventional grinding and eroding methods that are unable to handle the level of precision required for processing complex cutting contours and narrow tool tolerances in CBN, PCD and CVD-D materials.

Tech swap

Part of CTE's October cover story, this video sidebar follows tool grinder Jim Clark as he employs the ANCA CNC toolgrinding machine at Hamill Manufacturing to create custom geometry onan endmill for a military application.

Multitasking video

A Studer brand S242 machine, which combines hard milling and grinding, is shown hard milling a toolholder without coolant, then grinding the holder's taper with coolant to achieve the required surface finish. This video is a supplement to the January 2010 Cutting Tool Engineering feature—"Finish Line"—about finishing hardened workpieces on multitasking machines.

Creep-feed grinding

Larry Marchand, vice president of the Profile Grinding Technologies Division at United Grinding Technologies, provides a brief look at the company's Magerle MFP 50, which features an automatic tool changer that enables grinding, milling and drilling in one setup.
