Laser Line Generator

A new series of laser line generators from Coherent Inc. enables the detection of smaller features in machine vision applications based on triangulation. Specifically, StingRay µFocus (Micro Focus) lasers feature a linewidth that is 40 percent smaller than standard Coherent StingRay products (at the same working distance), and can achieve focused linewidths as small as 20 µm, thus providing increased spatial resolution and the ability to discern finer details.

Hybrid Hole Drilling Machine

Synova and Makino are joining forces to offer the HybridCell, which combines the power of Synova’s Laser MicroJet (LMJ) with Makino’s leading edge EDM capabilities. It is a fully automated, manufacturing-ready, work cell that can handle a wide range of hole-drilling applications. The HybridCell consist of a MCS 500 cutting system, along with Makino’s EDBV EDM hole-drilling machine. The system is available through Makino’s extensive North American Single Source Technologies sales channel.

Matsuura LUMEX Avance-25 laser sintering, milling machine

The LUMEX Avance-25 laser sintering and milling machine integrates a fiber laser for state-of-the-art metal sintering and a machining center for performing high accuracy, high-speed milling, according to machine builder Matsuura Machinery Corp., Fukui City, Japan.

The LUMEX Avance-25 reportedly eliminates conventional processes, such as mold die splitting, electrical discharge processing, electrode designing, the fabrication of additional cooling water pipes, and assembly and adjustment work.

Zinc Selenide and Zinc Sulfide Optics

Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) and Zinc Sulfide (ZnS) optics that are manufactured to specification for FLIR, surveillance, military, and medical applications are available from Laser Research Optics. Laser Research ZnSe and ZnS Optics are custom manufactured to ISO-10110 specifications in sizes from 0.5” to 5” OD and can be coated to achieve specific wavelengths from 7 to 11 µm for ZnSe and 400 nm to 12 µm for ZnS.
