Blue laser technology: setting the standard in on-machine tool measurement

The new NC4+ Blue system is designed to help machine shops across many industries transform their production capabilities. Compared to red laser sources found in conventional non-contact tool setters, Renishaw’s blue laser technology delivers improved diffraction effects and optimized laser beam geometry. In addition to industry-first blue laser technology, the NC4+ features enhanced optics built to deliver greater tool measurement accuracy.

Rapid, robust and flexible tool setting with the Renishaw NC4

Non-contact laser tool setting systems use a beam of laser light passing between a transmitter and a receiver. Positioned correctly these systems can also be used to measure geometry and detect broken tools. The Renishaw NC4 non-contact tool setter can:

• compensate for variation during the machining process

• update the machine’s controller automatically to account for actual effects, e.g. tool wear

• automatically stop the process when broken tools are detected

• reduce rework, concessions and scrap

ITW Vortec has released an update to its line of enclosure coolers. The ProtEX Vortex A/C enclosure cooler, released in April 2017, has been granted certification for Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C and D; Class II, Division 1, Groups F and G; and Class III, after extensive review by Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL).
