Software/Tool Management

Why Smart Machine Monitoring?

Marzel Neckien, president of W Machine Works, San Fernando, California, invested in smart machine monitoring from FactoryWiz that enabled the shop to collect raw machine data and better understand what was happening on their shop floor. The video includes an interview snippet between Neckien and  Tony Gunn of MTDCNC.

High performance endmill exceeds shop's expectations

ARCH Cutting Tools, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, recently visited with Quality Machine & Repair Inc., Hartville, Ohio, to learn more about the company's decision to use Patriot High Performance™ endmills for a small run of complex parts made of a flame-hardened 4140 steel with a crust in the 50 Rockwell range. The company ordered 16 endmills for the job, but only needed two.

Updates to Gantry Tool Storage and Manufacturing Management Software

The GTS system enables cutting tools to be shared among multiple machines, minimizing redundancy and eliminating the need to reserve a cutting tool for a single machine. This generates cutting tool cost savings and minimizes operator interaction with  cutting tool changes, reducing labor expense and eliminating tooling loading errors. Cutting tool sharing also permits reduction in the size of machine tool magazines. When implementing the GTS system, its new modular design results in shorter delivery, installation, and commissioning times, as well as hardware cost advantages.

ALPHACAM Integration Software Upgrade

An array of new and enhanced functionality and seamless integration with other software packages ensures that the latest release of ALPHACAM stays at the forefront of helping manufacturers create smart factories in line with Industry 4.0. Updates to the Automation Manager in ALPHACAM 2021 assist users in preparing jobs for processing, as well as with management.

System Configurator for integrated Inverted Microscope Positioning System

Precision positioning of the sample is a must for accurate results when using an inverted microscope. PI provides options with high stability motorized stages for long travel ranges with wide dynamic range, manual sample positioning / prepositioning, piezo scanning stages, and z-positioning / vertical stages to move the sample or the objective.

ESPRIT 2020

ESPRIT 2020 features plentiful updates for Swiss-type machining. This technique is defined by its small, often intricate parts. Medical devices, such as bone screws, are typically manufactured on Swiss-type machines. ESPRIT’s 2020 update introduces or enhances support for 200 different Swiss-type machine models.

ACU-RITE Software Upgrade

This free upgrade promises to assist all users of current model ACU-RITE digital readouts to be more productive and efficient in their manufacturing, as well as continuing its tradition of ease-of-use. ACU-RITE’s current family of DROs include models 100, 200 and 300. The new software version is titled “v1.4.0.

AxiCheck Software

AxiCheck helps increase production capacity by quickly and accurately inspecting the state of health of the machine, allowing users to identify and correct errors that may impact the workpiece, as well as planning maintenance operations in advance. This reduces the number of reject parts, particularly when dealing with single batches of expensive part production.

Drastically Cut Machining Costs with VERICUT Force

VERICUT Force is the standard for NC program optimization.  Force optimization can reduce machining times up to 25 percent or more, produce better quality parts, and extend tool life up to 2X. Force can optimize any CAM or manually generated tool path, using any tool or material. Force balances both tool life and speed to match your machining goals. Force Charts expose opportunities for improvement and provide NC Programmers with valuable information to make data driven decisions to achieve optimal machining conditions.
