Article from Jane Addams Resource Center
U.S. manufacturers face an aging workforce, concerns regarding safety best practices, ongoing movement toward lean manufacturing and the rapid emergence of new technologies. At the same time, people are struggling to pay bills, find work that provides a living wage, and support themselves and their families.
Employers need to find pre-screened, qualified, entry-level employees. And job seekers need the skills to land those jobs.
Chicago's Jane Addams Resource Center (JARC) helps both job seekers and employers advance in today's rapidly changing economy through comprehensive training programs. It is focused on the metalworking trades, specifically welding and CNC machining, to staff a diverse segment that encompasses individual job shops, as well as production departments in manufacturing companies.
Employers have access to a pool of qualified workers as well as on-site training for their current employees and more. Job seekers can find classroom training in a simulated manufacturing workplace environment modeled on a shop floor.
