Miyachi Unitek Corp., a Monrovia, Calif. manufacturer of welding equipment and laser processing systems, has changed its corporate name to Miyachi America Corp. The name change aligns Miyachi Unitek with other Miyachi Corp. companies around the world. The company will continue to use the Miyachi Unitek brand name.

Established in 1972 as Miyachi Corporation Japan, the company manufactures laser-welding, laser-marking and resistance-welding equipment. In March 2013, Miyachi Corp. became a consolidated subsidiary of Amada Co. Ltd., a Japanese company headquartered in Isehara, Kanagawa. The Amada Co. makes systems for sheet-metal processing, metal cutting, pressing and machining.

"The Miyachi America Corp. name is a symbol of the strong global alliance among the family of Miyachi Corp. companies, which are leveraging a wealth of available technologies and products, and applying welding technology to other metal processing applications," said Dave Fawcett, president and CEO of Miyachi America.
