Seco Tools, Troy, Mich., was recognized for participating in the John Deere Cost Reduction Opportunities Process (JD CROP), part of Deere & Company's Achieving Excellence program. The toolmaker received the honor for the quality of its cost-reduction ideas and for demonstrating its commitment to continuous improvement, according to Seco.
Suppliers who participate in the Achieving Excellence program are evaluated annually in several categories, including quality, cost management, delivery, technical support and wavelength, which is a measure of responsiveness. John Deere Supply Management created the program in 1991 to provide a supplier evaluation and feedback process that promotes continuous improvement.
According to Kurt Nordlund, president of Seco Tools, Deere has thousands of indirect suppliers on a global basis, all of which are eligible for this award. "Being selected is quite an honor and is recognition of Seco's efforts and dedication."-
Seco will receive its award at the Achieving Excellence Award Banquet in Moline, Ill., on Feb. 18.
