Holmes County, Fla., home to a cluster of metal machining and fabrication outfits that employ skilled machinists and welders, has seen the manufacturing industry provide a solid foundation for economic opportunity and demand for a skilled workforce. Companies such as AUS Manufacturing, Manown Engineering, Holmes Tool and Engineering, Environmental Manufacturing and Supply and Johnson Laser Works make up a thriving local industry, with Paradigm Plastics recently ushering in plastic mold injection capabilities.

Manufacturing is one industry that serves many others. Much of what is produced by shops in Holmes County is shipped out to customers across the U.S. and other countries around the world to serve clients such as the Department of Defense, power plants and any imaginable industry. Having a diverse and often international clientele is part of why machine shops are a sustainable business in a rural community.
