FlexArm Inc.

(Wapakoneta, OH) –FlexArm will break ground on their new $4 million state-of-the-art headquarters on September 17 at 10 am EST. Festivities include the ceremonial turning over of the first shovel, a press conference with questions and answer session and refreshments for dignitaries and guests. In addition to company personnel, city and state officials, industry personnel and others are expected at the rain-or-shine event.  The event will take place at 705 Commerce Drive, Wapakoneta, OH – site of the new 53,000 square foot facility.

FlexArm is a global company that manufactures high-precision tapping machines, die grinders, torque reaction arms and custom lifting solutions. FlexCNC is also global business that manufactures CNC machines designed for fabrication and machine shops that contain open beds that can be sized between 10-80 feet long allowing long and large parts, or multiple batches of components, to be machined with a single set-up, saving time and money.

By all accounts, FlexArm and FlexCNC are bucking many trends – they are a third-generation, family-owned and operated manufacturing facility that is growing exponentially.  “We really have a vibrant culture with a lot of teamwork,” continues Kennedy.  “Virtually everyone is empowered to make decisions that will benefit the customer.”

The company, which was founded in 1984 by current President Nick Kennedy’s grandfather, will retain their current factory for warehousing and shipment of finished products and spare parts/service parts.  The new 53,000-square-foot facility at 705 Commerce Drive will include R&D, engineering, customer testing/runoff, manufacturing, and administration for both their FlexArm and FlexCNC product lines.

“We’re really excited to begin construction of our new factory,” said President Nick Kennedy.  “We’re growing like crazy, and we’ve got people shoe-horned into the current facility. This new space will enable us to continue our growth – both in sales volume and employees, while better serving new and existing customers.”

Not only is the new facility expected to lead to company successes but also will allow FlexCNC to become a $50 million product line within 10 years. He continues, “We are excited to give back to the community by bringing more manufacturing and jobs to the area.”

Workpiece is held in a chuck, mounted on a face plate or secured between centers and rotated while a cutting tool, normally a single-point tool, is fed into it along its periphery or across its end or face. Takes the form of straight turning (cutting along the periphery of the workpiece); taper turning (creating a taper); step turning (turning different-size diameters on the same work); chamfering (beveling an edge or shoulder); facing (cutting on an end); turning threads (usually external but can be internal); roughing (high-volume metal removal); and finishing (final light cuts). Performed on lathes, turning centers, chucking machines, automatic screw machines and similar machines.
