Marjorie Steed has held several titles at CemeCon Inc. during her 14-year career. As of Aug. 1, 2019, she added one more title: president.
Steed succeeds Gary Lake, guiding the North American subsidiary of CemeCon AG into a new era for the tool coating and technology company. Her promotion is part of a planned transition as Lake readies for retirement at year’s end.
“With the growth of HiPIMS and CVD Diamond, this is an exciting time for CemeCon, and I am thrilled and humbled to lead our company into the future,“ said Steed, who now oversees 54 employees across two buildings. “We’ve built a great team here and we will continue Gary’s legacy and provide the high quality and consistent products our customers rely on.“
“She started 14 years ago and quickly became an important figure,“ said Dr. Toni Leyendecker, founder and CEO of CemeCon AG. “She has important qualities we need in this worldwide business, this is a win for CemeCon and the future of the company.“
Only the 12th member of the CemeCon Inc. team when she was hired in 2006, Steed defined the customer service representative role. Over the following several years, Steed developed a strong understanding of the entire coating process and, as a result, was promoted to operations manager. There, she nurtured a detail-oriented culture which made her instrumental in the development and implementation of CemeCon Inc. becoming ISO 9001 certified – a distinction the company has earned every year since 2012. In 2015, she was named to the CemeCon Inc. board of directors and became vice president of operations.
