CGTech, a deeloper of CNC simulation, verification, optimization and post-processing software is demonstrating its latest advancements in its suite of manufacturing software at Booth #133340 at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2024.

Attendees at IMTS will have the opportunity to explore the latest version of CGTech’s flagship software, VERICUT 9.5, its latest post-processing software release, ICAM V25, and a new standalone optimization product, VERICUT Optimizer.

“We are excited to return to IMTS and engage with our valued customers and other industry professionals from around the world,” said Gene Granata, director of product management at CGTech. “IMTS provides a unique platform to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to innovation and to showcase how our solutions help manufacturers stay ahead in an increasingly competitive landscape.”

The latest features and enhancements to elevate precision, efficiency, and user experience in CNC manufacturing will be on display, including:

VERICUT 9.5 introduces several key enhancements, including a new Heat Map in the Tool Summary window for visualizing tool wear patterns, enabling better tool life tracking. CNC Machine Connectivity allows real-time data visibility and post-machining analysis, with support for connecting to FANUC, OKUMA, Siemens, and Heidenhain controlled CNC machines.

The update also improves coordinate system management with interactive Transform menus, simplifying object placement. VERICUT 9.5 also adds support for the latest CAM versions and enhances CAM interfaces for better automation and advanced tool simulation.

ICAM V25 brings enhanced support for multi-channel mill-turn operations, new optimization features like SmartCUT and SmartPATH, improved singularity avoidance, and advanced motion optimization capabilities. It also adds a new CL-oriented look-ahead function, virtual machine enhancements, and integration with GibbsCAM.

Additionally, ICAM V25 now supports offline license use, offers improved 3D scene manipulation, and provides online documentation. These updates streamline post-processing, enhance simulation accuracy, and improve overall user experience.

CGTech will also be launching a new standalone NC Program optimization solution at IMTS: VERICUT Optimizer (VO). VO focuses on optimizing cutting processes to reduce cycle times, improve tool life, and enhance part quality. VO is designed to enhance machining performance while minimizing costs, and doesn’t require VERICUT to run. This powerful optimization tool seamlessly integrates with any CAM system’s NC Program output, allowing manufacturers to optimize their NC programs with just a few clicks, ensuring compatibility and increased efficiency with standard 2-axis, 3-axis, or 4/5-axis CNC machines.

VERICUT Product Specialist Jeff Voegele on Thursday, September 12, from 2:15 PM to 3:10 PM (CT). In his session, "Closing the Gap between Simulation and the Shop Floor," Jeff will explore how integrating simulation software with CNC machines enhances verification and provides NC programmers, machine operators, and shop management with new insights into NC program and machine performance. With over 29 years of CNC manufacturing experience and 19 years using Creo (Pro/E), Jeff brings a wealth of knowledge to the discussion.

Visitors can schedule a demo of any VERICUT module, VERICUT Optimizer, CNC Machine Connectivity, or ICAM Post to see these tools in action.

Related Glossary Terms

  • computer numerical control ( CNC)

    computer numerical control ( CNC)

Microprocessor-based controller dedicated to a machine tool that permits the creation or modification of parts. Programmed numerical control activates the machine’s servos and spindle drives and controls the various machining operations. See DNC, direct numerical control; NC, numerical control.

  • computer-aided manufacturing ( CAM)

    computer-aided manufacturing ( CAM)

Use of computers to control machining and manufacturing processes.

  • look-ahead

    look-ahead

CNC feature that evaluates many data blocks ahead of the cutting tool’s location to adjust the machining parameters to prevent gouges. This occurs when the feed rate is too high to stop the cutting tool within the required distance, resulting in an overshoot of the tool’s projected path. Ideally, look-ahead should be dynamic, varying the distance and number of program blocks based on the part profile and the desired feed rate.

  • numerical control ( NC)

    numerical control ( NC)

Any controlled equipment that allows an operator to program its movement by entering a series of coded numbers and symbols. See CNC, computer numerical control; DNC, direct numerical control.
