Drilling flat-bottom holes is a challenge. Leveraging the success of its KenTIP FS modular drill, Kennametal has developed a unique insert geometry (FEG) that streamlines many of these types of applications and simplifies the drilling of counterbores and pilot holes as well.n

Okuma's MCR-S roughs and finishes press dies in one setup and is designed for heavy duty machining of process-intensive press dies. It features full 5-face and 5-axis machining and is excellent for die repair work. The MCR-S accommodates a wide range of stamping die requirements making it an ideal fit for the automotive and aerospace industries. It can easily handle hardened cast iron, nonferrous and exotic materials.n

The T-A Pro drill combines material-specific insert geometries, a redesigned drill body and a proprietary coolant-through system to allow penetration rates which run at speeds nearly 30% faster than other high performance drills on the market. Coolant outlets are designed to direct maximum flow to the cutting edge providing quick heat extraction where it is most critical - even at significantly higher speeds.

Made in the USA, both VFD kits are also suited for smaller garage/machine shops, mills, lathes, and grinders. Adaptable to most applications, the VFD kits can run the motor on 220V single-phase incoming power vs. requiring three-phase power – eliminating the need for a phase converter convenient package, it can go up to 5,000 RPMs in high gear–10-15% higher than the standard milling machine could do. Unlike early VFD kits, these provide full-torque at the lowest RPM.

The Bantam Tools Desktop CNC Milling Machine is fast, easy to set up, and omes with software that allows for predictable outcomes, including automatic material location, effectively bringing aluminum prototyping to an accessible and affordable level that has not been seen in this category. The two new machines, models MTV 1000 and MTV 1250 offering 8,000 rpm/700 ft lbs. of torque and 4,500 rpm/1,200 ft lbs. plus 200 bar/3,000 psi high pressure coolant for integrated turning, are joining the STC-MTV family of horizontal machining centers.

The capability to keep eighty tools resident with high horsepower motors means heavy metal removal and flexibility. B-axis surfacing with up to 135 travel handles up to ½" diameter tooling. Software technologies increase effectiveness including Star CNC's HFT (High Frequency Turning) software handle chip control in tough materials, Star CNC Motion Control System optimizes your program to reduce cycle time, and the Star Monitoring and Operator Support System (SMOOSS-i) allows remote monitoring with real-time efficiency reporting and operator intervention predictability.

With five models built from two frame sizes, the UNE Series can drill hole diameters from 1.4 mm to 40 mm and depths up to 3,000 mm. The compact frame construction saves valuable floor space as well. Each machine can fit in close proximity to a shop's existing machining center, lathe or Swiss-style machine for efficient part-processing strategies. Built with quick and easy set-up in mind, the machines are also small enough to be relocated when necessary. For added flexibility to grow with future production needs, all UNE models are robot-ready, allowing shops to add a robot whenever it fits into their budget and production schedule.
