QUANTiC Encoder Series
Renishaw has launched a new encoder family for linear axes, which offers exceptionally wide installation tolerances and axis speeds of up to 24 meters per second. The QUANTiC encoder series produces a digital signal output directly from the readhead and eliminates the requirement for additional bulky external interfaces.
Texas ranked No. 2 on list of top states for aerospace manufacturing
Texas could be in line to land thousands of additional aerospace-related manufacturing and engineering jobs if companies in the fast-growing sector heed a new ranking of the most competitive places for them to operate. The report by PricewaterhouseCoopers lists Texas behind only Washington state as the top location in the United States for "aerospace manufacturing attractiveness."
Happy Manufacturing Day!
In preparation for this year's celebration of Manufacturing Day on Oct. 5, I read the book "Finding America's Greatest Champion: Building Prosperity Through Manufacturing, Mentoring and the Awesome Responsibility of Parenting" by Terry M. Iverson, president of machine tool distributor and rebuilder Iverson & Co., Des Plaines, Illinois.
Ultrafine Coolant Filtration Systems
When grinding tools, ultrafine coolant filtration is clearly a worthwhile proposition for the tool manufacturer or regrinder: The cleaner the grinding oil is and the less often it has to be replaced, the more it will save on coolant costs, minimize waste, and reduce tool costs and machine downtimes.
FABTECH tracking the rising trend of women in manufacturing
The metal fabrication and manufacturing industry has adjusted in recent years to meet the demands of an evolving global economy, impacted by social, political, economic and technological advancements that effect all aspects of the industry.
Will a robot take my manufacturing job? Yes, no and maybe
Robots and the programming they rely on have certainly made huge leaps in recent years. But manufacturers have little use for jumping or cuddling machines. They need performers that can do specific production jobs. Do robots fit the bill? Will they replace all our manufacturing employees?
EcoLine Biobased Rubber Revitalizer
Cortec's main goal is to provide practical corrosion solutions that are more environmentally and user friendly than their traditional counterparts. Cortec also offers an excellent companion solution for revitalizing rubber parts that frequently come into play when restoring and preserving metal equipment.
Criterion Boring Kits
Allied Machine & Engineering adds three new Criterion boring kits to its line-up. The kit selection includes a kit for 1.00" cylindrical shank, a kit for R8 shank and a kit for #4 Morse taper shank.
ERP 1000 Modular Angle Encoders
HEIDENHAIN announces a new series of angle encoders called the ERP 1000 with the design criteria of exceptionally high resolution, high speed and high contamination resistance. These new unique encoders are particularly useful for highly accurate measurement and positioning applications within semiconductor and metrology equipment.
TMX Series Direct-Drive Motors
CNC specialist NUM has significantly expanded its portfolio of motors for machine tool applications by launching a range of high-performance brushless torque motors. Employing innovative optimized magnetics, NUM's new TMX series direct-drive motors have an extremely low cogging torque. They are ideal for applications that demand very smooth and accurate rotation, especially at low speeds.
New Version of HALCON 18.11 Software
MVTec Software GmbH will release the new version 18.11 of its standard software HALCON on Nov. 30, 2018. Many highlights in the new release are the result of MVTec's ongoing development of AI technologies, such as deep learning and convolutional neural networks (CNNs).
