Carbon Fiber Resin Material for 3D Printing
Cincinnati Inc. has released a new carbon fiber resin material for its SAAM (Small Area Additive Manufacturing) 3D printing system. The new material is impact resistant, lightweight and has a very high strength-to-weight ratio. Carbon fiber reinforcement makes the material stiff, durable and very low warping – and advanced inter-layer adhesion results in accurate, quality parts with good dimensions.
CappsNC Software
To perform the complex mathematical calculations required for metrology based real-time adaptive control of CNC machining processes, powerful coordinate measuring machine (CMM) software needs to be directly integrated within the manufacturing system. CappsNC, from Applied Automation Software Inc., an adaptation of CappsDMIS CMM software, has been developed to program any machining center to perform advanced measurement, metrology and GD&T calculations using the standard DMIS language.
Coordinate Measurement Robot
Metrologic Group says its first-of-its-kind Coordinate Measurement Robot (CMR) offers CMM accuracy to robotic inspection beside the production line, with no associated tracking devices. This off-the-shelf solution, jointly developed with robotics manufacturer Stäubli, combines a Stäubli mechanical robot (6-axis TX60, TX90 or TX200 series robots) and state-of-the-art robot-dedicated 3D measurement software suite, Metrolog X4 i-Robot and Silma X4 i-Robot.
SFP2 Surface Finish Measurement Probe
Renishaw announces the SFP2 – a new, improved surface finish measurement probe – for use with its REVO 5-axis measurement system on CMMs. The SFP2 probe increases the surface finish measurement ability of the REVO system, which offers a multisensor capability providing touch-trigger, high-speed tactile scanning and noncontact vision measurement on a single CMM.

TIGO SF Coordinate Measuring Machine
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announced improvements to the operating temperature range of its TIGO SF shop floor coordinate measurement machine. The CMM, which has an operational range of between 15° C (59° F) and 30° C (86° F) as standard, now offers the XT option to extend this range up to 40° C (104° F).
