MERLIC 5.6

In MERLIC 5.6, some methods that were previously available on a test basis have been transferred to completely new tools. These tools are: “Count with Deep Learning”, “Segment Image Pixel-Precisely", and “Recognize Color”. With “Count with Deep Learning”, also known as Deep Counting, it is possible to count a large number of objects quickly and robustly with little training effort. There are many possible use cases for this feature, like for example completeness checks. “Segment Image Pixel-Precisely" makes it possible to localize trained defect classes with pixel precision.

Data Management Platform

As part of the partnership, the library of the machine vision software HALCON has been expanded to include data management functions. With the extension package for HALCON it is possible to build up an image database and to enrich the images with additional information such as time stamp, lot number, product number, temperature, or vibration data. The BeeYard data management platform from DataVision is then used to evaluate and analyze the image data. The cloud- or server-based platform enables customization to meet storage requirements, location-independent accessibility, cost efficiency – especially for large data volumes –, integration of a variety of other cloud-based tools and services, and high processing speed.

Neugart Calculation Program (NCP) 4.3

Newly designed details in NCP version 4.3 offer even greater convenience when using the program. New or occasional users in particular benefit from the intuitive usability and will find design examples for each application with detailed descriptions. Handling of projects is facilitated, since the appropriate application and calculations already performed can simply be retrieved directly. By dragging files into the program, the user can easily open files and add designs.

Robot Pick AI

SIMATIC Robot Pick AI (robot skill) is a pre-trained, deep-learning-based vision software for advanced robotics applications like goods-to-robot order bin picking that provides out-of-the-box cognitive performance for selecting robust pick points (6-DoF grasp poses) for arbitrary "unknown" items at runtime.

HALCON Version 23.05

With HALCON 23.05, it is now possible to further optimize the underlying deep learning networks, which are already pre-trained on industry-related images, for the user's own application. This allows even more robust recognition rates for Deep OCR applications as well as an even more reliable detection of suitable gripping surfaces for applications using 3D Gripping Point Detection technology. In addition, there are many other helpful improvements, such as the fact that external code can now be integrated into HALCON more easily.
