Solar Manufacturing shipped a Mentor vacuum furnace to Virginia, for a customer servicing the tool and die industry. The Model HFL-2018-2IQ features a graphite-insulated hot zone, a load weight capacity up to 250 lbs. and a maximum operating temperature of 2400° F.
Solar Atmospheres of Western PA recently installed a new, 14-foot long car bottom air furnace. The furnace was surveyed in accordance with AMS2750 Rev E and is uniform within ±10°F (Class 2).
In the operation of vacuum furnaces the quench gas heat exchanger fins can become clogged with various debris and dirt that is very difficult to completely clean with standard pressure washing and other conventional methods. The clogged heat exchanger greatly impedes quench gas flow, resulting in reduced work cooling rates.
In a continuing quest to enhance customer service, Solar Atmospheres of Western PA has expanded its wings by adding another type of mechanical testing to its repertoire: tensile testing. Tensile tests are essential in determining and understanding the ultimate strengths of materials.
