Congressman and NASA administrator visit Mazak manufacturing campus

March 4, 2020 – Mazak Corp. announced that it hosted NASA’s new administrator James Frederick “Jim” Bridenstine and Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky at its Florence, Kentucky, North American manufacturing headquarters. The administrator and congressman made a special trip to Mazak after attending a high-level round-table event with Mazak President Dan Janka, representatives of local aerospace manufacturers and educational leaders, and three Ohio state congressmen and other area politicians.

Mazak and Oak Ridge National Laboratory partner for wire additive R&D

Continuing collaborative efforts for the technological advancement of manufacturing processes, Florence, Kentucky-based Mazak Corp. and Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s (ORNL) manufacturing demonstration center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, have entered into a cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA). Working on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy, ORNL and Mazak will further develop the use of hot wire deposition (HWD) in additive manufacturing part production operations.

ITAMCO wins contract with U.S. Air Force to develop 3D-printed runway mat

ITAMCO (Indiana Technology and Manufacturing Companies) is part of a team developing a new runway mat for the U.S. Air Force. Runway mats are a critical component of expeditionary airfields (EAFs). EAFs are portable airfields that can be constructed, used, broken down after the completion of a mission, and moved to another site for re-use.
