MIKRON features Crazydrill Crosspilot solid carbide drills

The CRAZYDRILL Crosspilot is one of the very successful tools in the CRAZYDRILL line of high precision, high performance, solid carbide drills of Mikron. It is used to drill inclined holes and does the traditional operation of Flat Milling, NC Spot Drilling and the actual drilling with a twist drill in two steps instead of three. The benefits are: High positioning accuracy, excellent alignment accuracy and the elimination of one tool. It has a very robust design, a special tip geometry (170°) and guarantees perfect centering for the subsequent drilling operation.

Heule Tools celebrates 25 years

Heule Tools Corp., which celebrated its 25th anniversary at IMTS 2014, introduced two new products at the semi-annual trade show event. Gary Brown, president of Heule Tools Corp., North America, describes a new drilling line and the company's new counterbore tool said to be capable of creating back spot faces of more than 2x diameter.

Allied tailgates at IMTS 2014

Take a tour of the Allied Machine & Engineering Corp. booth decked out with a tailgating theme for IMTS 2014 at Chicago's McCormick Place. The company featured its APX deep-hole drilling system, which uses a fixed series body with various heads that determine the cutting diameter. There are 10 series to cover the diameter range from 1.500" to 4.000" and depths up to 10 diameters deep.

Cutting Tool Engineering magazine hosted a Webinar Dec. 10, 2014, featuring Mike MacArthur, vice president of engineering at the RobbJack Corp. Following the main presentation, titled "Technologies & Strategies for Composite Drilling, Routing and Trimming," CTE Publisher Don Nelson held a brief Q&A session with questions submitted by the audience.
