Costimator Software Version 12.1

With each new release of their cost estimating software, MTI Systems says its Costimator is improved, and the latest iteration, Version 12.1, is no exception, especially for manufacturers who do machining. In this version, estimators now have the ability to instantly size cost model windows as they build, expand, and analyze the information in them, especially the cost models that are more complex. Over 24 new cost models were added offering new options for machining, other manufacturing processes and a few for outside services. Lastly, this update includes a new RFQ (request for quote) report, that offers estimators and purchasing a quick and easy method to distribute a collective list of materials and purchased items… at the push of just a few buttons.

"Each new software version provides customers opportunities to work with more work center choices, more elaborate cost models and greater manufacturing process cost estimating configurations," said Aaron Martin, Cost Estimating Manager for MTI Systems. "While upgrades aren't always necessary, they do provide more estimating options and coupled with additional manufacturing data offers more ways to save time estimating parts they make or buy."

Estimators, in any industry, whether aerospace, energy, medical, heavy equipment manufacturers and more, are all short for time. Their estimating and quoting workload piles are typically overwhelming. Without an effective estimating system and consistent communication channels, something has to give. It can be easy to allow frustration, blended with subjective choices, to turn results into poorly estimated part quotes. This version continues to reduce subjective decision-making while saving time, adding consistency, and more accuracy to the cost estimating mix.

"During trainings, our customers were constantly asking for a better way to tally the list of materials and purchased items their buyers need to purchase for their estimates," continued Martin. "Now, the new RFQ report offers an incredibly fast way to get the purchasing information to the buyer and with greater accuracy."
