IF-Profiler

October 13, 2013

The IF-Profiler, by Alicona, is a non-contact measuring system to measure surface roughness including form. Based on the technology of Focus-Variation, the system combines the functionalities of surface roughness measurement device and a micro coordinate measurement device. For users, this means that both roughness and form of flat and curved components are measured with only one system. In addition to measurements based on the extraction of a linear profile, the profiler by Alicona also enables areal measurements to numerically verify also local roughness and surface state.

The IF-Profiler consists of a 3D measurement sensor and a robust, at the same time handy framework. This enables the traceable measurement of various positions and measurement fields.

Amongst others applications the IF-Profiler is used to measure surface finish and form also of large and heavy components. Fields of use are the measurement of e.g. turbine or rotor blades, steel and body type surfaces. Users achieve traceable measurements in high repeatability.
