Marposs has announced the availability of its new Super-Meclab+.T40 high accuracy bench top laser micrometer systems for off-line diameter measuring of fluted parts such as cutting tools, drill bits, endmills, small gears and toothed pulleys.
Offering linearity of +0.5 µm and repeatability of +0.07 µm, this noncontact gaging system provides extreme accuracy that is typically only attainable in a metrology room. With a measuring field of 40 mm, Meclab systems are designed to be used as an off-line bench-top gage with the flexibility to check a wide range of components with different shapes and sizes without resetting or remastering. The ease of use reduces inspection time while improving measurement capability.
The Super-Meclab+.T40 table top system that comes complete with flat granite baseplate, embedded PC with 10.4-in. monitor, preinstalled software, fixtures, keyboard, mouse and an NC-VR option for compensation of measuring drift due to changing room temperature.
The part is inserted onto a double V-fixture, which is mounted on a manually driven slide equipped with a magnetic digital readout scale. This displays the displacement of the part itself with the position continuously displayed on the screen. The operator then starts the measuring cycle. During this, the part is rotated to a measurement period that is automatically set by the computer.
During rotation, the laser sensor scans the part at 1,500 samples/second and stores all the measurements related to the positions of the upper and lower edge of the part. Tolerances are checked by comparing the actual dimensions to the programmed limits. The measurement data are immediately printed and recorded for further analysis, eliminating the need to hand fill-in charts.
