Milling Cutters

This milling cutter can be used universally for steel, stainless steels, cast iron and difficult-to-machine materials, in face, shoulder, ramping, pocket, and circular interpolation milling operations. Available in diameters of 32-100 mm, a maximum depth of cut of 5 or 8 mm), with Weldon shank or shell mill mount interface.

The small size-04 inserts also allow TungForce-Rec04 to have a higher teeth density than conventional shoulder cutters of the same size, boasting two teeth for an 8 mm diameter cutter and three for a 10 mm. This allows TungForce-Rec04 to run higher feed speed than competitors when being fed at the same rate per tooth, enabling increased productivity.

When considering options for speed, NSK America Corp. and OSG USA Inc. teamed up to highlight the benefits of proper speed applied to high-quality tooling. For the project, they machined their respective company logos onto a coin to showcase the intricate geometries and engravings that are possible with microtooling.

The Xtra·tec XT M5009 face milling cutter has a 45° approach angle, is available in diameters of 25-160 mm (1-6 in.) and provides a depth of cut of 5 or 6.5 mm. It features three pitches for different applications (tools with wide and medium pitch for insert size SN X1205 are designed with carbide shim), and either ScrewFit or shell mill mount interfaces.

Ramping down, the cutter first bottom-cuts the surface with the leading insert, then further cuts the same surface with its trailing insert. DoFeedTri inserts are designed with a long "inner" cutting edge that can bottom-cut more material than conventional milling inserts when trailing the leading insert during ramp down operations. This makes DoFeedTri a perfect tool for productive ramp down operations.

The M5004 octagon milling cutter combines efficiency and process reliability while also extending tool life, resulting in maximum productivity. Process reliability is enhanced thanks to the new tool's high stability. Lower tool costs and reduced time and labor result from its universal usability and no need for additional finishing operations.

The MFH-MAX provides a new alternative to conventional 90° end mills when roughing to medium-finishing. The MFH-MAX also provides more capabilities than conventional high-feed mills by reducing the number of tool paths and machining time when cutting workpieces with large variations in machining margins.

Not only does this solution make it easier to machine sticky materials, but it is designed for easy, ergonomic indexing and the pocket and screw designs simplify positioning. The cutters themselves feature a new environmentally friendly coating and their outstanding high feed milling performance reduces the amount of power used in roughing. Yet another step in the right direction for Seco Tools to continue their journey to create more environmentally sustainable manufacturing and machining solutions.

In addition to standard VBO and VBN barrel-shaped end mills for productive finish machining of curved surfaces, TungMeister's new VBL lens-shape milling head has a convexly shaped cutting edge on the tool's tip, instead of on the periphery, providing a good solution for machining a complex bottom surface. These end milling heads enable more material removal with fewer passes in 5-axis machining.

The Xtra·Tec XT M5468 provides protection against twisting and cutting-edge rotation due to the eight facets on its indexable inserts. It also yields maximum productivity thanks to its ability to support optimum cutting data and promote long tool life, as well as maximum process stability due to the indexing of the indexable inserts using facets. This oversized milling cutter, which handles machining operations on deep shoulders, is easily adaptable to various machining operations due to its variety of indexable insert sizes and geometries. A high level of flexibility is enhanced by a cylindrical modular interface that permits its use in existing adapter systems.
