Coord2013 CMM

Italian coordinate measuring machine (CMM) manufacturer Coord3 Metrology has launched its 2013 CMM model series, which includes the Renishaw PH10 PLUS series of motorized indexing probe heads, wireless thermal compensation, high-resolution free-floating measuring scales and a free Stylus Change Rack.

The Renishaw PH10 motorized indexing heads are said to provide a 20 percent improvement in repeatability (0.4µm) over the original PH10 heads, as well as increased long-term stability and reliability, Coord3 reported. PH10 PLUS probe heads have the enhanced ability to store operational data including:

• head moves and the position of each move,
• head lock/unlock events,
• head errors, including position and when error occurred, and
• head overload events, including position and when error occurred.

The PH10 PLUS head provides the ability for the stored data download as part of a head recalibration or service repair.

Coord3's Bluetooth wireless CMM thermal compensation allows the measuring system to automatically and dynamically compensate for thermal changes in the CMM and part without the use of cabling, according to the company.

The Coord3 wireless system allows the CMM to perform with stated measuring accuracy from 16° to 26° C, according to the company. In addition, the 2003 COORD3 CMM series utilizes 0.1µm resolution measuring scales that are free-floating in support tracks, which is said to eliminate any CMM structural changes from influencing measuring scale accuracy.
