STEVENS Engineering Inc. manufactures a wide variety of tombstones in sizes up to 40" square by 60" overall height and shapes ranging from rectangular, four-sided, Silo construction, triangular, hexagonal and octagonal. STEVENS tombstones are made from steel, having much higher tensile strength than cast iron or aluminum, the company reports. In addition, STEVENS tombstones, size for size, are reportedly far more rigid than cast versions. Steel bulkheads, welded flush to the top surface, add to the rigidity of the structure and prevent entry of contaminants into the interior. Furnace stress relieving of the structure prior to finish machining assures long-term stability.
STEVENS tombstones are available with the standard STEVENS hole pattern, alternate patterns or plain, finished or unfinished, for users who prefer to machine features suited to their particular needs. STEVENS offers a wide range of workholding accessories designed to mount on surfaces having the STEVENS grid pattern — vises, vee blocks, parallels, locators, clamps, etc.
For large scale production, STEVENS offers a professional design and build service, specific to the user's requirements, including hydraulic, pneumatic and manual clamping.
