One good deed too many
It should be assumed that companies with blue-collar positions are social organizations looking to employ goofballs with troubled pasts.
Milling with constant force
There are many reasons for cutting force to vary, even during stable milling. These include tool teeth entering and exiting the cut, instantaneous changes in chip thickness, and tooth orientation changing as the tool rotates. However, it is possible to arrange the cutting conditions in a simple way and keep the cutting force constant.

Despite setbacks and challenges, the orthopedic implant market is set to grow.
Making one-of-a-kind knee implants: Medical Manufacturing
The amount of advanced CNC equipment in Micron Product's orthopedic machining work cell has doubled in the past 5 years, while the number of programmer/machinists has remained about the same due to the use of more efficient, advanced CAM technology.
Keeping machines and operators cool and clean
Shops today are more aware of environmental conditions. Mist collectors and electrostatic air cleansers are not uncommon and many manufacturers realize there's little chance of attracting high-caliber work from customers when the shop is a pigsty.
Why Beta Titanium Alloys Pose Challenges for Machining
Mark Larson, a titanium process R&D manager for Makino Inc., answers 10 questions about machining titanium alloys.
Preventive maintenance an important part of a shop’s routine
Preventive maintenance can drastically reduce the frequency and the extent of the damage when machine tools and other shop equipment break. Most machine tool builders and other equipment providers will provide the necessary maintenance steps to keep equipment up and running. But how those steps are taken is up to each shop.

All-or-nothin’ burn: General Industry Coverage
Water is an effective heat conductor, and, if you get an adequate supply of coolant within the pores of the wheel, the coolant will absorb about 70 percent of the heat.
Tech center offers manual and CNC machining programs
Manufacturers nationwide are struggling to find skilled labor, and several community colleges and technical centers around the country have stepped in to fill the void, including a technical training center in Phoenix that offers CNC and manual machining programs. The Maricopa Skill Center offers two machining certificates: CNC machining and manual machining. Students in the program attend class 6 hours a day, Monday through Thursday. The CNC machining program takes about a year to complete.
