Pramet T9415 Turning Grade
With a 30% thicker coating than the previous generation, the Pramet T9415 significantly improves tool durability by increasing resistance to wear and offers higher productivity by allowing for higher cutting speeds. Several testing users of the new grade have reported that their productivity has doubled while machining carbon and structural steels.
Getting the most out of your boring tools
Fine boring, rough machining, large-diameter boring — no matter the type of application, it is key to get the most from boring tools. Hole-finishing applications, whether at a job shop or a high-production environment, require precision. Here are ways to get the most out of your boring tools.
Marposs acquires data analysis and AI company
Marposs Corporation, a leader in measurement, inspection, and test technologies, has acquired the majority share of Digital Strategy Innovation (DSI), a start-up company and specialist in applied research in AI, big data, and data analysis located in Venice, Italy.

REV Broaching Tools
The REV motorized broaching tool is designed for use on live tool lathes. Single machine set-up eliminates the need for secondary operation or outsourcing. REV tools are ideal for high production runs, offer easy installation and fast processing time. These tools are designed for maximum rigidity, offer long tool life and an excellent finish.
Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) Inserts
The PCD inserts impart the finest surface finishes while shoulder, face and slot milling. The tools enable precise machining with reduced cutting forces and minimal vibration tendencies. They have a low cost because of their extremely long tool life as a result of the cutting edge being made of the hardest known material. In addition, the PCD inserts provide the shortest machining times due to their ability to mill at high cutting speeds. The inserts can be used dry, with emulsion of MQL (minimum quantity lubrication).
ANCA announces dates for Technology Days open house
ANCA will have a Technology Days open house at its Wixom, Michigan, facility May 9 and 10.
Embracing equity for women in STEM
Hear from Sandvik Coromant's president on this International Women's Day, which this year follows the theme of embracing equity — focusing on giving fair opportunities for everyone to succeed.
All-Directional Y-Axis Turning
So how does Y-axis turning work? As the name implies, the new method makes use of the Y-axis, and all three axes are used simultaneously when machining. The tool rotates around its own center, the insert is placed for machining in the Y-Z plane and the milling spindle axis interpolates during turning. This allows intricate shapes to be machined with a single tool.
Cutting and Forming Taps
The three performance levels encompass the product designations of T32 and T34 in thread cutting taps and T33 in forming taps. At the base level are universal general-purpose type taps. The second T34 mid-level range consists of higher performance taps that work well in a variety of workpiece materials, making them especially well-suited for high-mix/low-volume production environments with constantly changing parts and materials. The top performance level are material-specific thread cutting and forming taps such as those optimized for steel or other advanced materials.
IMSce for Mastercam
The solution enables Mastercam users to simulate and verify G-code including controller variables, subprograms, expressions and canned cycles for a wide range of machine tools before the workpiece is mounted on the machine.
Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Checking Gage
The gage is supplied in a carrying case with a program on a USB drive that runs in LK's CAMIO measuring and reporting software. The program includes DMIS measurement and alignment routines for bridge and horizontal arm CMMs, allowing the CCG cycle to run seamlessly on LK machines. However, it is easy for operators of other 3D measuring platforms using different software to program a probing cycle around the gage to check for machine accuracy.
Timken acquires a CMM to inspect large bearings
The Dudley, United Kingdom, factory of The Timken Co. supplies engineered bearings to a multitude of industries, including mining, food and beverage, pulp and paper, cement, marine and wastewater. Recently, there has been a significant increase in demand for larger bearings. To enable the company to inspect these larger bearings, Timken purchased an AlteraM 15.12.10 ceramic bridge coordinate measuring machine.
