MobiLase Battery
Featuring a powerful, 30-watt fiber laser and a large, 100 x 100 mm marking window, MobiLase® Battery delivers fast and durable laser markings on nearly any material ranging from plastics to steel to precious metals, among many others. The 7-lb. handheld applicator is equipped with a trigger to start marking plus two bracket options for ease of marking various part shapes.
J12/J/16 Jig Borer
The machines' strong and durable structures provide table lateral movement accuracy of 2.5 µm or better. The Z-axis guide system is restrained on four sides to maximize rigidity and reliability, and dual ball screws ensure stable feed motion. For precision holemaking applications, XY interpolation enables the J12/J16 machines to carry out high-precision contouring by utilizing an end mill instead of a boring tool, eliminating the need to manually adjust a boring tool to accurately finish the hole diameter avoiding bottlenecks. Pitch accuracy is within 5 µm even for large-pitch holes.

ANCA Academy video series gets back to basics
In the latest episode of ANCA Academy's video series, host Hugh Ingham, an ANCA mechanical and application engineer, has an in-depth discussion of machine fundamentals.
Hydraulic Chucks and Reduction Sleeves
For simple, easy-to-use, versatile tool holding, the three versions of Seco Hydraulic Chucks include the HC Conventional, HCR Reinforced and the HCS Slim. The HC Conventional version delivers precision holding for drilling, reaming and light milling. As a universal solution, the HCR Reinforced version provides effective holding for all applications from HSM to HPM and for all kinds of tool shank types like Cylindrical, Weldon and Whistle Notch. The HCS Slim holder version is ideal for accessing deep, narrow part cavities during 5-axis machining at high speeds.n
Traceability bolsters prospects for additive manufacturing
Although a variety of part traceability solutions are available for traditional manufacturing processes, including bar coding, laser etching and adding serial numbers and radio frequency identification, those technologies are not particularly efficient or effective for additively manufactured parts, which tend to have complex geometries and can be microscale, according to Cody Burke, co-founder and COO of SmartParts. To overcome those challenges, SmartParts reports that it developed an integrated solution that combines advanced material taggants, hardware and software to connect manufacturing data to additive materials and parts.
Robots set a healthy pace in 2022
For three consecutive quarters, North American robot sales have hit record highs, according to the Association for Advancing Automation in Ann Arbor, Michigan. For CNC machining in particular, orders for automation are "beyond expectations," said Craig Zoberis, founder and president of Burr Ridge, Illinois-based Fusion | RoboJob-USA, which provides systems for automatically loading and unloading CNC turning and milling machines.
Downwind turbines
For six years, in conjunction with collaborators at University of Virginia, University of Texas at Dallas, ColoradoSchool of Mines and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Lucy Pao – the Palmer endowed chair in the department of electrical, computer and energy engineering – and her team have developed the Segmented Ultralight Morphing Rotor, or SUMR, turbine, a two-bladed, downwind rotor to test the performance of this lightweight concept.
Benefits of High-Pressure coolant on High Temperature Alloys
What we don't see when turning HTA at a microscopic level is that a heat pocket is being created between the cutting edge and the chip being formed. This heat pocket is preventing coolant from targeting the cutting edge. What HPC does is break through the heat pocket and get coolant to where it needs to be.
Tips for making wise machine tool purchases
There are a lot more than dollar signs to consider before purchasing a new machine tool.
DC118 Supreme Solid Carbide Drill
The 180°-point angle makes the DC118 Supreme ideal for plunging into inclined or round surfaces because the drill is guided quickly on the margins and centered accurately. At the same time, burr formation remains extremely low. The protective corner chamfer on the cutting edges protects against rapid wear, which significantly increases tool life compared to drills without a protective chamfer. The excellent rigidity of the drill is a third feature which sets it apart from the competition.
