NanoDiamond-enhanced Electroless Nickel Plating
Nanodiamond material specialist Carbodeon of Finland has worked with metal finishing specialist CCT Plating of Germany to develop a new NanoDiamond-enhanced electroless nickel plating with significantly improved performance in sliding applications. Electroless nickel coatings offer many advantages over other coating types, such as excellent corrosion and abrasion resistance, creating an even coating thickness over complex geometries and at relatively low cost, according to the company.
WRP60P and WRP45P High-Accuracy Touch Probes
Marposs has announced the availability of its new WRP60P and WRP45P high-accuracy touch probes with multichannel radio transmission. The se probes are for high-accuracy 5-axis machining centers and milling machines, which address high precision industries such as die and mold, aerospace, aeronautics and biomedical.
Management Suite Software
ANCA's new Management Suite provides customers the technology to monitor the performance of their machines remotely and enables companies to run smart factories by providing live production information to make data-based decisions for operational improvements.
hyperMILL 2017.2 CAM Software
OPEN MIND Technologies AG has introduced hyperMILL 2017.2, the company's newest release of the hyperMILL CAM suite. OPEN MIND has further enhanced hyperMILL, providing users a broad array of features designed to improve their manufacturing process with unmatched speed and flexibility, according to the company.
BARRIERTA K Greases
Klüber Lubrication provides BARRIERTA K greases for automotive, electrical and precision engineering applications. These greases are based on perfluorinated polyether oil (PFPE) to provide a long component life over a wide service temperature range.
Toolholding plays important role in process reliability
In 2016, Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. installed new manufacturing systems for machining structural parts made of aluminum. To achieve the desired surface quality and precision during high-speed milling operations, the aircraft manufacturer continuously relies on the solutions provided by Haimer: a large selection of toolholders and the corresponding shrinking and balancing machines.
DoTriple-Mill Series Inserts
Tungaloy Corp. is expanding its DoTriple-Mill series to include pressed-to-size inserts in Class M dimensional tolerance, to further strengthen its position in the facemilling market. DoTriple-Mill is Tungaloy's latest facemill series, in which any set of square, octagonal or round inserts can be fit on a single cutter body.
Wiper Inserts
Walter has expanded the capabilities of its popular Walter BLAXX M3024 heptagon milling cutter with new wiper inserts. The inserts, which have two right-hand and two left-hand cutting edges, were specifically developed for the Walter BLAXX M3024, and allow it to be used for finishing operations.
Panel Cut Tools for Composite Sandwich Panels
Controx presents the Panel Cut line of tools, which reportedly allow feed rates up to 400 ipm for maximum productivity and a clean surface finish. Designed specifically for machining lightweight composite sandwich panels, these shank tools employ sophisticated tool geometry to drill through sandwich panels with no delamination on the glass or carbon fiber skins or flagging of the honeycomb in between.
Frost & Sullivan eyes future of AI in manufacturing
According to Frost & Sullivan's Industrial Automation and Process Control team, cognitive technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) are "poised to transform all manufacturing sectors." Partnership, collaboration, and technology investment are crucial for growth opportunities in an era when "data is the new currency." n
toolcraft invests in Trumpf 3D printers
MBFZ toolcraft GmbH reports that 3D printing is developing at an increasingly rapid pace. While plastic parts can already be 3D printed on home printers, metal 3D printing remains in the hands of innovative industrial companies. Here, the transition has already been made from rapid prototyping to rapid manufacturing.
