Many are handling new tasks, but a reengineering of employees' tasks can be beneficial, driving everyone to work smarter, not harder. It is working well so far, thanks to everyone picking up the slack created by the departed employees.
Better Threaders: General Industry Coverage
When CNC wire EDMs came on the market in the mid-'70s, feeding wire from a spool through a machine's elaborate series of rollers and guides was a tedious manual exercise. Luckily, electrical discharge machining was an exceedingly slow process back then, so replacing wire had to be done less frequently than on today's machines, which erode conductive metal 10 to 20 times faster than earlier models.

B3220 Boring Cartridge
Walter has broadened its line of boring tools with the introduction of the B3220 boring cartridge for axial-radial offset roughing (ARS), expanding on previous methods that were either symmetrical or asymmetrical. This versatile new tool, designed for use with the Walter B3220 but which can be used with the Walter B3221 and B3224 boring tools as well, brings the capabilities of axial-radial offset roughing (ARS) to an array of new applications.

POLISTAR, the line of flexible abrasive stars from PFERD INC. that has been developed for work on the hard-to-reach inner surfaces of bores and pipes, has just gotten even more effective with the introduction of POLISTAR-TUBE. POLISTAR-TUBE is a multi-stage tubing system that highlights the effectiveness of POLISTAR on even more hard to reach bore and pipe interiors. To prevent corrosion on stainless steel pipes, POLISTAR-TUBE is manufactured using stainless steel rivets exclusively.
QP5X-400 Vertical Machining Center
Chevalier's QP5X-400, a 40-taper, high-speed VMC that features 5-axis simultaneous or 4+1 axis applications. The standard machine is integrated with 2-axis, 12.6" trunnion table. The new QP5X-400 has better accuracy, more productivity, less manpower, less cycle time and higher profitability, according to the company. The machine is for high-speed, high-precision and high-productivity machining that is suitable for the aerospace, medicalnand moldmaking industries.

The new space-saving and cost-effective automation solution "Top loader" is integrated directly into the machine, therefore requiring no additional floor space and no restriction of the working envelope of the machine.
