Pramet SF & SM insert geometries
Dormer Pramet now offers Pramet SF and SM geometries for machining of high temperature alloys and stainless steel, the company announced Jan. 27. The SF geometry features a sharp positive geometry with an inclination cutting edge of 14.5° while the SM chip-breaker is a wear-resistant, universal geometry for medium machining.
EDNC21 sinker EDM
Makino Inc., Mason, Ohio, recently introduced the EDNC21 sinker electrical discharge machine (EDM) with dual heads that reportedly improve productivity and lower tool build time for large molds, the company announced in a Jan. 26 news release. The EDNC21 also includes Makino's latest EDM innovations and developments, such as the Hyper-i control, HyperCut technology and new HS-Rib high-speed Z-axis.
COORD3 5-Axis CMM
Perceptron Inc., Plymouth, Mich., recently launched a full range of 5-axis coordinate measurement machines (CMMs) complete with the Renishaw® REVO-2 scanning probe and a fully-integrated universal CMM controller and MODUS® metrology software. The company combined the metrology stability of the COORD3 Universal CMM with the latest Renishaw REVO-2 5-axis measuring system, according to Perceptron CMM Product Sales DirectorElliott Mills. This combination, he added, minimizes CMM dynamic error for high-speed probe motion because all of the part feature scanning motion takes place within the head of the REVO-2, which is said to be the only scanning system for CMMs that simultaneously controls the motion of three CMM and two probe head axes. At the same time, the company added, the REVO-2 also collects workpiece data using its range of 3D tactile probes, surface roughness measurement probe and non-contact vision probe.
KASTOwin saw line
With its new KASTOwin range, KASTO Inc., Export, Penn., presents a flexible, universal solution for serial and production sawing of solid materials, tubes and profiles, according to a recent company news release. Four automatic band saw models were presented at the company's 170th anniversary event. The full line will be on display for the first time at AMB 2016, an international exhibition for metalworking set for Sept. 13-17 in Stuttgart, Germany.

The MarSurf® UD 130, which replaces the MarSurf UD 120, is said to offer improved nanometer range measurements, high measuring and positioning speeds, a biomimetic probe design with better rigidity and higher dynamics, as well as automatic probe arm recognition.
