Mechanized Numerics, a small machine shop in Ann Arbor, Mich., pitted two "high performance" aluminum-cutting endmills against each other for a slotting demonstration the shop filmed and posted to YouTube in January 2015. According to the shop's YouTube channel, MechNum CNC, the cutter and parameters filmed for each machnie were nearly identical.

Absolute Machine Tools Inc. recently posted a video demonstrating its Tongtai TD-2000YBC, a high-precision CNC turning center cast from Meehanite iron. The turning center is loaded with high-tech features, according to the company. In particular, the machine features a rigid, ergonomic and accurate 75° bed design for excellent chip flow and operator accessibility.

The Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KY FAME) is a partnership of regional manufacturers and local educational institutions working to implement dualtrack, apprenticeship-style training with the goal of creating a pipeline of highly skilled workers, according to the organization's website. Haas Automation's "Tip of the Day" video series tackles the buildup of stringy chips that wrap around tools. "If you’ve ever experienced a rat’s nest of stringy chips wrapped around your tools, this video is for you," according to the video description on the Haas Automation YouTube channel. A Haas representative offers "a simple way to throw those chips off the tool before they have a chance to build up." In addition, the video introduces a new feature in the Haas NextGen control that is said to eliminate the problem of chip buildup altogether.
