Forkardt aquires Soft-Touch workholding technology

Forkardt Inc., Traverse City, Michigan, announced the acquisition of the intellectual property (IP) Soft-Touch technology assets from General Manufacturing Systems, a supplier of custom workholding products in Saginaw, Michigan. With Soft-Touch, Forkardt strengthens its advanced custom and highly specialized workholding capabilities and IP portfolio for challenging applications in the automotive and aerospace markets, such as the manufacturing of aluminum die cast materials and thin-walled components where part deformation is a concern.

New Sandvik Coromant Center to open in North Carolina

Sean Holt, head of sales area Americas for Sandvik Coromant Co., Fair Lawn, New Jersey, announced that a new Sandvik Coromant Center will open in Mebane, North Carolina, where customers and partners will be fully immersed in the latest technology and digital machining techniques, including CoroPlus, the platform that brings connectvitity to manufacturing. Currently, Sandvik Coromant has a production unit in Mebane that manufactures special and standard products and will expand the existing production site space to fully utilize the capabilities of the current building.

Kennametal Solid Carbide End Mill For Aluminum Roughing

Kennametal's five-flute, high-velocity aluminum roughing solid-carbide endmill — the KOR 5 — is said to increase table feed rates up to 66% compared to commonly used three-flute tools. The KOR 5, which is capable of removing large amounts of metal and getting it away from the work zone as quickly as possible, reportedly offers a significant boost in productivity for aircraft manufacturers and their suppliers.

Emuge hosts grand opening of expanded manufacturing facility

Emuge Corp. held a grand opening ceremony of its significantly expanded, custom-designed manufacturing facility in West Boylston, Massachusetts, on Oct. 15, 2019. Marking a 35-year presence in the U.S. along with increased growth in North America, the Emuge expansion includes more manufacturing and tool reconditioning space, the addition of a new PVD coating center, as well as an expanded Technology and Training Center. The expanded facility doubles the size of the original building to over 50,000 sq. ft. total.

Zoller demonstrates latest technology at two-day event

Zoller Inc. hosted its annual Zollerfest on Oct. 2-3 at its North American headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Zollerfest is an annual technology days and open house event that combines the celebration of the company’s German heritage and its presetting, measuring, inspection, tool management and automation technology to create a truly unique manufacturing event. Over 100 guests visited the company across the two-day event, coming from a variety of industry segments ranging from aerospace and defense to job shops, with the goal of learning how Zoller solutions could help bring success to their manufacturing process.
