Walter Surface Technologies has introduced two heavy-duty grinders: the Ironman and Ironman PS. Designed for strenuous, prolonged use, the Ironman and Ironman PS feature an ergonomic rat-tail design, perfect balance, 1,750 watts of power, 6-inch wheel capacity, a QUICK-R instant release function, and the Walter Stabilizer, which reduces vibration and extends the life and productivity of abrasives by up to 30 percent.

Milwaukee Tool announces the next breakthrough in M18 FUEL, a 18V large angle grinder. The new M18 FUEL 7”/9” large angle grinder generates the power of a 15-amp corded LAG, is up to 2 lbs. lighter than the leading corded unit, and features a 9” grinding capacity.

For years the flexible, ball-style hone has dominated the market for applications that require honing of cylindrical metal surfaces, such as engine piston bores and drilled through-holes. Now the tool, in a slightly different configuration but with the same filaments and abrasive globules, is increasingly being utilized on 2D, or planar, surfaces.

The Model MV-2L Swam-Blast Micro Sandblasters introduce a precise amount of finely graded abrasive powder into a controlled stream of compressed air through the abrasive pathway and out a manually or automatically positioned nozzle tip. Total process control can be achieved with independently adjustable powder flow control and air pressure regulation.

A single-station CNC microfinishing system processes a family of 68 aerospace control surface actuation shafts to better than 0.1 Ra, while creating a functional surface for the component. Other tribological surface parameters are used for this post-grinding application on HVOC (tungsten carbide) coated steel shafts.

The WBS/Guyson Model 72x36 dual-operator system is for cleaning and surface preparation of low-volume, high-value aircraft engine components up to 55 inches in length and 24 inches in diameter. It is fabricated of 12-gauge 304 stainless steel material having a #4 polished finish.

A new design CNC microfinishing system by IMPCO Microfinishing polishes the critical cylindrical bearing journals of a range of different size crankshafts to micron tolerances consistently and automatically without the need to manually change and reposition the tooling, reducing changeover time from many hours to a few minutes. The company says its Worldstar 1680 is a fully flexible microfinishing system for the automotive industry and was built in response to the requirements of a European automaker for installation in Brazil.
