Grooving

Tungaloy-NTK IMTS 2024 Booth Visit

Tungaloy-NTK Chief Technical Officer Kedar Bhagath shares insights on the company's advancements in turning technology, including its AddMultiTurn six-corner inserts for front turning, back turning, profiling and face turning. He next highlights the company's new grooving product, the AddForceCut, which features a self-clamping design.

PR20 Series

Currently available for Kyocera’s popular GBA external and SIGE internal grooving systems, the new PR20 Series ensures precision and longevity in every cut. The innovative multi-layered structure of MEGACOAT NANO EX not only increases the durability of the inserts but also maintains superior cutting performance throughout extended use. By optimizing the balance between hardness and toughness, these new grades set a new standard across a variety of grooving operations, helping machinists achieve consistent, high- quality results while reducing tool changeovers and downtime.

Feed the Speed with TungFeed-Blade

Tungaloy’s TungFeed-Blade is an extremely rigid modular blade series for grooving and parting applications. TungFeed-Blade consists of a triangular CHGP style modular blade with three insert pockets which holds a CHTBR/L robust style tool block. Intended for high feed grooving and parting, the TungFeed-Blade system extends insert life, improves surface finish, and part straightness, while significantly reducing cycle time.

EH Geometry

The stable cutting edge enables feed rates in the range of f = 0.25-0.4 mm/rev, during grooving and parting-off, which results in reduced machining time across multiple operations. Reliable chip evacuation and control is ensured by a special chip formation. High feed rates require a stable machine  when grooving and parting-off, as well as secure clamping of the workpiece. Starting from a feed rate of 0.3 mm/rev (0.012”/rev), HORN recommends reducing the infeed for the first 3—4 mm (0.118”- 0.157”) during grooving and parting-off.
