Diamond and Borazon Microfinishing Grinding Pins

Titan Tool Supply Inc. announces the introduction of its line of precision diamond and Borazon microfinishing grinding pins. They are designed to meet an increasing demand for small precision ID grinding in industries such as ceramics, electronics, and tool, mold and die making. A carbide shank provides added strength and precision, according to Titan Tool Supply.

The working ends of the pins are coated with either diamond or Borazon. Three diameters are offered for use in small openings. These include 0.016” dia. with 500/600 grit, 0.020” dia. with 325/400 grit and 0.024” dia. with 325/400 grit.

  • ceramics

    ceramics

Cutting tool materials based on aluminum oxide and silicon nitride. Ceramic tools can withstand higher cutting speeds than cemented carbide tools when machining hardened steels, cast irons and high-temperature alloys.

  • grinding

    grinding

Machining operation in which material is removed from the workpiece by a powered abrasive wheel, stone, belt, paste, sheet, compound, slurry, etc. Takes various forms: surface grinding (creates flat and/or squared surfaces); cylindrical grinding (for external cylindrical and tapered shapes, fillets, undercuts, etc.); centerless grinding; chamfering; thread and form grinding; tool and cutter grinding; offhand grinding; lapping and polishing (grinding with extremely fine grits to create ultrasmooth surfaces); honing; and disc grinding.

  • inner diameter ( ID)

    inner diameter ( ID)

Dimension that defines the inside diameter of a cavity or hole. See OD, outer diameter.

  • shank

    shank

Main body of a tool; the portion of a drill or similar end-held tool that fits into a collet, chuck or similar mounting device.
