Written by Harry G. Sachsel of Diamond Industrial Tools Inc., "Precision Abrasive Grinding in the 21st Century" is a 680-page book for those involved in precision abrasive grinding applications. The book is written in layman's language, according to Sachel, who is certified in abrasive engineering and predicts the future will require a tremendous increase in grinding applications as more parts are made of hard alloy, crystalline, ceramic and "strange" materials. The book is divided into 12 sections and covers conventional, ceramic, semisuperabrasive and superabrasive grinding.

grinding
Machining operation in which material is removed from the workpiece by a powered abrasive wheel, stone, belt, paste, sheet, compound, slurry, etc. Takes various forms: surface grinding (creates flat and/or squared surfaces); cylindrical grinding (for external cylindrical and tapered shapes, fillets, undercuts, etc.); centerless grinding; chamfering; thread and form grinding; tool and cutter grinding; offhand grinding; lapping and polishing (grinding with extremely fine grits to create ultrasmooth surfaces); honing; and disc grinding.
