“TM” series tool storage magazine assemblies are electro-mechanically driven and easy to install. They do not require any pneumatics or hydraulics, and, as such, are extremely reliable, repetitive and low maintenance. The bi-directional magazines are available in three standard frame sizes with or without a linear slide and designed to accommodate CAT 30, 40 and 50, plus the equivalent range of BT, ISO and HSK style toolholders, offered with standard storage capacities of 12, 20 or 30 tools with other capacities being available upon request.

The new TruPrint 1000 LMF 3D printer works like a selective laser melting 3D printer, using a powder bed process to build 3D parts by laying down a thin layer of metal powder materials onto the build surface while a 200-watt laser fuses the layer of powder along the contour of the part being printed.

Italian workholding manufacturer Gerardi SPA offers its new line of self-centering CompactGRIP vises for 5-axis machining. The line offers higher clamping power than existing vises, because the clamping screw design is positioned very close to the workpiece and the integral design of slides and jaws, according to the company.

Conventional "bump" knurling methods are undesirable for smaller diameter parts because the forces deflect the workpiece, according to Genevieve Swiss Industries Inc., Westfield, Mass. To control this problem, the company recommends using a straddle knurl holder to provide support to the workpiece while the knurling operation is performed.

The MC251 Advance solid carbide milling cutters from Walter's Prototyp brand is said to be the ideal geometry for machining stainless materials from material group ISO M and for secondary applications in ISO S materials, according to the company.
