VEX-P tool
Heule Tool Corp.'s VEX-P tool combines a replaceable, solid-carbide, high-performance drill tip and the company's SNAP chamfering system to enable drilling and front and back chamfering in one operation. The cutting geometry creates short chips when machining steel, aluminum and other long-chipping materials and has a helix gullet for chip evacuation. The TiAlN-coated drill tip is self-centering. The tool is available from 11.0mm to 17.0mm (0.433" to 0.669") in diameter.
Beamer Laser Marking machines
Beamer Laser Marking Systems says it builds the Beamer laser marking machines around productivity and precision. Benchtop, full-enclosure and XL models are available. The newest machines have a larger Z-axis travel, an enhanced fiber- laser power source and more user-friendly software, enabling them to replace old and inefficient parts marking technologies, according to the company.
Crusher and Centrifuge/Wringer System
PRAB offers the vertical-axis crusher and diagonal-shaft centrifuge/wringer system for reclaiming cutting fluids and reducing bushy metal turnings into dry shovel-grade chips. Dry chips reduce haul-away costs, mitigate risk of spillage or environmental fines, and offer greater returns on metal with dealers.
ADDER universal endmills
Cobra Carbide Inc.'s ADDER universal endmills have a 40° helix and a variable-flute geometry. According to the company, the endmills enable chatter-free milling in hard, ferrous materials and impart fine surface finishes. The coatings reportedly allow users to dramatically increase feeds and speeds, take deeper DOCs and extend tool life.
Aqua Drill EX Flat series
Nachi America Inc. says its Aqua Drill EX Flat series provides one-step drilling. The drill eliminates the need for a center drill or endmill on inclined or curved surfaces. The 180° flat cutting edge creates a minimal exit burr. The tools feature the Aqua EX coating for enhanced heat and wear resistance. New fractional sizes will be available in May.
Mikron microtools
Mikron Corp. Monroe provides cutting tools from 0.004" (0.1mm) to 0.25" (6.0mm) in diameter for machining stainless steel, titanium, chrome-cobalt and high-temperature alloys. These include the CrazyDrill Twicenter with through-coolant ducts for centering, the CrazyMill Cool through-coolant milling cutter, the CrazyMill Chamfer deburring tools and the CrazyDrill Inox drill, which is available with or without through-coolant. The tools impart fine surface finishes, making secondary operations unnecessary, according to the company.
Heli IQ Mill inserts
Iscar Metals Inc. offers Heli IQ Mill inserts for numerous milling applications across a variety of industrial sectors. The three helical cutting edges reduce cutting forces and power consumption, according to the company. The inserts are now available in cermet for machining medium to hard materials, are peripherally ground for milling stainless steel, and are ground sharp and diamond-polished for cutting aluminum.
FMT beveling tools
FMT beveling tools from Fastenal Co. are for cutting inside and outside bevels, pipe beveling, countersinking and generating radius paint edges. The spark-free, heat-free tools enable users to make head changes in 30 seconds. The electric FMT Bevel Mate is capable of bevel depths up to ½" (12.7mm), and the pneumatic FMT Bevel Mite is capable of bevel depths up to ¼" (6.4mm).
PCD05- and PCD20-grade PCD-tipped milling inserts
Seco Tools LLC offers PCD05- and PCD20-grade PCD-tipped milling inserts for its Turbo 10 cutter bodies. The inserts are suitable for cutting aluminum, titanium, polymers and fiber-reinforced composites. When used with carbide inserts, the PCD-tipped inserts act as wiper inserts in fixed pockets. The two grades come in the company's X010 insert size with a corner radius of 0.016" (0.4mm) and a wiper length of 0.43" (1.08mm).
SHEARDRILL solid-carbide drill
Morse Cutting Tools offers the SHEARDRILL solid-carbide drill. With a 140° performance point, the drill machines steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron and other materials, according to the company. The drill is available in through-coolant (3 and 5 diameters deep) and non-through-coolant (3 diameters deep) versions.
1:4 live tool speed multipliers
Heimatec Inc.'s line of 1:4 live tool speed multipliers enable tools to reach a maximum speed of 24,000 rpm. They are available for all popular live tool lathes. The speed multipliers are provided as axial or radial drilling and milling heads, with either internal or external coolant. Mounting configurations suit virtually any machine tool turret setup, including VDI and BMT sizes.
TriSpector1000 Vision Sensor
SICK announced the launch of the TriSpector1000 vision sensor for cost-efficient and reliable 3D inspection. The TriSpector1000 is a stand-alone, configurable 3D vision sensor that reliably inspects objects regardless of variations in object color, shape or position.
