Pay attention to abrasives: Turning Performance
Abrasives play a significant part at a modern metalworking shop, but process design, optimization and safety aspects frequently are overlooked.
Mazak’s virtual tour of its Kentucky HQ
Mazak Corp. launched a 360° Virtual Campus Tour allowing manufacturers to explore its Florence, Kentucky-based headquarters in action without having to leave home. The tour is part of the company's range of holistic digital experiences.
DZ 22 W Five Axis
The Series 22 combines both high-speed and high-precision processing for complete production of even large high-precision components. Featuring two workpiece-changing table variants, part capacities are generous - the 4-axis trunnion plate version handles 680 mm x 1,330 mm dia., up to 600 kg; and the twin-spindle 5-axis version handles 2 x 599 mm x 340 mm dia., up to 150 kg.n
Universal 24/48 V DC Power Supplies
With the PS device series, Beckhoff offers high-quality power supplies for almost all applications in both the 24 and 48 V DC range, including motion control applications with stringent requirements for handling back EMF (electromagnetic force). Excellent convection, minimized power loss and high efficiency of up to 96.3% optimize the service life and reliability of the devices.
Optimized 5-axis Post Processor for FANUC CNCs
A growing number of manufacturing industries, such as aerospace, medical, and mold and die job shops, are incorporating 5-axis simultaneous processing in their operations. By optimizing FANUC CNCs with Mastercam's new post processor, machine tools will be able to produce parts, modeled in the CAD system, more precisely.
Getting value from waste streams
Making investments to facilitate operational improvements—and financing those investments in a way that preserves cash flow—will be critical to sustainable growth. Here is what manufacturers should consider to make the most of this opportunity when it comes to achieving value from waste streams.
Lathes, CNCs repaired with Vesconite Hilube wear pads
Wear pads between the saddle and the machining bed on lathes and CNC machines are being replaced with a wear-resistant polymer known as Vesconite Hilube
ARCH Cutting Tools takes top prize in Tool of the Year competition
With 28 entries, 1.2 million social impressions and almost 4500 votes, ANCA's Tool of the Year winner was ARCH Cutting Tool's entry that demonstrated the use of multiple ANCA'S iGrind machine operations with several complex profiles.
Robot Operating System (ROS)
ROS drivers are the latest addition to its H-811 high performance hexapod 6-axis miniature robot, allowing fast, seamless integration into a ROS environment, with comfortable control using their well-known mechanisms. With an included URDF model in the driver package, the H-811.i2 hexapod can also be simulated and visualized.
DM-9CNC Wheel Dressing Machine
Available for 9" and 10" diameter wheels, the machine CNC dresses precision contours in vitrified grinding wheels. The shape can be transferred from a CAD drawing into G-code which the DM-9CNC can read to form the wheel. Alternatively, for simpler geometry, the operator can enter the dress profile in a tabulated form on the 15" touch screen HMI.
NEXIV VMZ-S3020 Vision Measuring System
The system is ideal for inspecting a wide variety of mechanical, electrical, electronic, moulded, cast and pressed components that fall within its 300 x 200 x 200 mm working volume. Nikon's proprietary optical measuring, image processing and analysis technologies are employed to detect feature edges at very high speed, capturing accurately and automatically the shape and dimensions of even the most complex components.
PCD Round Tools
Extremely sharp cutting edges and low-friction rake surfaces eliminate concerns over built-up- edge. Low friction machining also produces superior surfaces in finishing operations, such as reaming. Surface roughness of Ra 0,1–0,8 μm (0.0025–0.02 μ-in) is achievable – far superior to conventional carbide tooling.
